Two security guards were killed and a shooter who allegedly started the incident is injured and in police custody after a shootout outside a Petchaburi pub on Saturday night.

Police at the Saengtawan in Ton Mamuang sub-district found shell casings from at least two guns and a discarded .357 gun in undergrowth 100 meters away.

There was a lot of blood around the tables in front of the pub.

Security guards Thanaphat Kaewcharoen, 41, from Cha-Am and Corporal Pheeratham Phutprasert, 47, from Petchaburi were hit in the torso and leg respectively.

They both died later in Prajorm Klao Hospital.

Methee Khampetch, 34, fled the scene injured after the shootout. He was later apprehended by police as he went to receive treatment for a leg wound at the same hospital.

Witnesses said that near closing time an argument developed between two rival groups of men and a fistfight ensued with the restaurant security staff intervening.

Methee went to retrieve a gun from his vehicle and the trouble flared again. Once again the security tried to stop the trouble but two of them were hit as several people exchanged gunfire.

The shooter fled the scene injured, said the witnesses.

Uncharacteristic," proactive police work, especially the part about finding "a discarded .357 gun in undergrowth 100 meters away."

Several people exchanged gunfire... does everyone go out to the pub "tooled up" now?

I once went to a wedding party here where shooting broke out after an hour or so of heavy drinking. I hid under a table until the gunfire stopped. Nobody dead, but several badly injured.

is there a second amendment in the thai constitution? imposing a ban on having weapons on board, except  in special, duly authorised cases, should be the solution
