The point is that as a member of the EU, control over minimum UK VAT rates cannot be challenged.

Big deal, two. Yes, if you are a member you have to agree to all the EU rules, which are extensive, controlling and becoming more so. I wasn't moaning but I am now.

The people came back after Parliament gave us a referendum. We voted to get out of the EU.

That's why we don't want to be an EU member anymore. We don't want their rules. We don't want our parliament to accept them regardless of our referendum result. That's the difference between Leave and Remain.
