Three Myanmar workers were arrested in Kamphaeng Phet on Wednesday morning for allegedly killing their compatriot in Phichit last week.

Phichit Police chief Pol Maj-General Thawatchai Muannara said villagers told officers that three Myanmar men were spotted hiding in a sugarcane plantation in Tambon Wang Yang in Khlong Khlung district.

The three were arrested and taken to the Pho Prathap Chang police station for questioning.

Identified only as Ren, Chaw and Aw, the three have been accused of killing Umao, 40, at a sugar cane plantation in Phichit’s Pho Prathap Chang district on May 11.

The four were employed by sugar-plantation owner Udom Mungkornpradit, 69. Udom said the three disappeared after the body of Umao was found in the plantation on the morning after Udom had paid the four workers their salaries. The four were reportedly drinking together after being paid.
