In other words, there was never an official explanation, and no "journalist" reporting on the story ever showed enough initiative to ask.

Many guys ask why they did this, or do that. Its not fair, people will be leaving etc.

But the bottom line is that they make the rules (for whatever reason..its still their rules). So we must live with and adapt to them.

....OR NOT!!!  We have the option to leave as well.

Ask the head of the immigration police. he should be able to answer you.

Could it be as simple as no mandatory health but keep 400k for emergency treatment? It's the same amount for insurance plus you don't need 40k for outpatient as you have that too...... Self insurance...

That is a perfectly logical and common sense thought process; and there lies the inherent problem nobody in Thailand is capable of that or implementing it.

Not at all.

Agents are the life blood of the system.

10's of millions of baht spread throughout RTP.

Immigration encourages agent use and the prices have gone up double or triple now.

It is easier, faster, and more efficient for them to process. And much more money for them.

Agents are and will never be banned..

Same price in Pattaya, are you saying now that at your IO, an agent would charge 30 or 45k for a retirement extension
