I am in Pattaya so my choices are to have a mutually agreed open relationship, or a relationship where I'm faithful and the girl sleeps around. 

 

Women of course do not see it that way especially at the start so I'm curious if anyone has broached the topic with a potential partner. How do they take it?

 

If you've gotten into this arrangement, can it work well or is it doomed to fail at some point?

Seems to me jealous, disdain, 'why am i just an ATM', what do the other guys (or guy) look like and how old and fit, how rich they are would creep into the picture sooner or later.

In Pattaya there is no expectation of fidelity so one either lies about his fidelity or agrees to sleeping around in advance. I don't like sleeping next to someone who may cut my dick off for feeling wronged and in general feel honesty from the start is best anyways. Maybe their culture can't handle that at all though

Nothing wrong with having your cake and eating it too, the same applies to her, suffice to say as long as this is agreed to in the beginning of the relationship and boundaries are formed if one or both feel uncomfortable with certain things, and as long as you stick to them, you shouldn't have an issue.

 

Having sex with others while married is healthy as far as I am concerned and having the wife join in now and again with another female is even better, although not as often as I would like.

 

Each to their own, whatever makes you "both" happy, not anyone else's business, although they will knock you for it.

 

To answer your question, it has worked for us for 12 years, no issues, just stick to the boundaries.

Why bother to marry if you/she wants an open relationship ? Just live together. Keep it simple.

I've met a farang here whose older wife lets him have a gig.  My guess is that when you have enough money and you're married to an older Thai woman who may be post-menopausal you may find in a Thai cultural way that that type of 'open relationship' is pretty much the same as well-to-do Thai men have.  You meet your wife's needs for financial stability and status and she in turn allows you to either have a gig she knows or to 'rent' the services that you need which she no longer enjoys providing.  For some post-menopausal women, sex drives goes off a cliff.  

Now, if you're an older man with a younger gal and the gal wants to roam?  Whatever trips your trigger.  Younger gals ain't my cup of tea for relationships. Been there, done that a long time ago, no desire to do it again.  Society loves to bash 'cheating men' but the fact of the matter is that women, especially younger women, are just as predisposed to having a fling, looking for strange, sowing wild oats, etc, etc, etc as men, if not more so.  There was one survey done a few years back indicating that more Thai women had affairs than Thai men. 

So to the Op.  Whatever makes you happy.  However, I personally detest hypocrisy, and my guess is that if you decided to open the relationship and enjoy the carnal delights of a female 'friend' yourself, she's probably cut off Mr. Happy when you are sleeping and fry it up for you as you bleed.  
So to answer your question, unless that open relationship is a two way street with a sexually progressive woman, then it's doomed to failure.

My post was meant as a joke, wife keeps saying, if you want go and get it, knowing that as i am paraplegic it would be impossible.

What Thai woman asks for an open relationship ?? Besides a bargirl who sees you and other customers, a normal Thai girl woudnt be asking for an open relationship in a million years.

Have good friend who had an open marriage. His wife f@$led up our business partnership sleeping with Thai partner. Then she lost all his assets through gambling and secret loans. I'm quite confused about your question – you faithful, and the girl(s) sleeping with other men????? – I know a huge number of girls and ladies here, where it is exactly like that, often the man won't even need to ask for it...

 

"Mutually agreed open relationships" are indeed also possible, but often require you to contribute financially to the various relationships – mostly on daily basis...???? – however, in some cases you might find a girl saying that "a man cannot eat the same dish every day", the girl might even share some of the additional dishes...????

 

The first mentioned case works in numerous cases – however, in some cases it eventually crash, but that is mainly when its not cleared clear enough in advance... – the second instance can also work, even quite well from experience, if you have [financial] power enough to take care of that many ladies...????

 

 

Find out of you're suited for this.  Share a condom with a complete stranger.  If you don't get queasy just thinking about it, this is the arrangement for you.
