Keyboard replacement for Samsung laptop

Featured Replies

I've got a relatively old Samsung laptop (7 years old or so) that has had keyboard problems for awhile.  I just use a USB keyboard as a workaround.  However the power button is now becoming sort of iffy.  It can be a bit of a problem to start the computer as I need to play with the button to get it to work.
So the entire keyboard could stand to be replace.  I don't particularly want to take it to a Samsung store as they always seem to want to 'ship it out' for repairs.  Replacing the keyboard would take all of about 2 minute if they have one in stock.  So instead I'm looking for someone who has access to Samsung parts or even a generic keyboard that might fit this computer. Considering I have a 150 km round trip drive to Chiang Mai, I'd prefer to hang around and have the keyboard replaced while I'm there.

Any suggestions on a Laptop Repair shop that might be able to turn around the repair while I wait or while I'm in town?

You might consider eBay to find your own replacement keyboard.  I'm not sure if a shop would want to use your replacement part.  You can search YouTube to find instructions on how to repair your model of laptop.

Good luck with the repair.

Until you get this fixed you can check if you have an option like "usb wake up" or "keyboard power on" or something similar in your BIOS, if you have this and enable it you can start your laptop by pressing a key on your USB keyboard

As someone mentioned there is a keyboard shop on 2nd floor of Pantip

If by chance they don't have the one you need (They didn't have mine)

You can order off Amazon & even with quick shipping it comes in very inexpensively

<$30

So no import duty

As for installation it is very simple...like 4 screws

unplug old plug in new & done
