20 baht per page scanning?

Featured Replies

The copy place I go to on 3rd road charges 5 baht per page to print from a pdf file, and 20 baht per page to scan pages back to pdf. Is that a reasonable price? 60 cents per page sounds like an American price so I thought I'd ask what others are paying.

I think your "lucky" to find anyone offering the service these days

You might find cheaper on Theprasit road near the college/university.

It cost them nothing except the work. It's expensive.

The question is how many pages do you have and are you willing to look around for a better price.

For the amount I've been paying I probably should have bought a printer by now.

I paid ten baht per page and felt ripped off. 20 baht i would definetely make a stand.

It costs them the rent and cost of resources.

Yes. He should run around Third Road and whatnot to save 50 baht.

It costs them virtually nothing, certainly less than photocopying or printing a pdf (no paper, no photocopier "dust", no whirring, wearing out, electricity gobbling printer mechanics) and takes insignificantly longer, but they charge 4 times as much.

Because they feel they have the customer "by the b****".

So they rip them off.

Your explanation is.....?

the scanner does have a lifetime, electronics, imager, power supply etc.

Just in case you have the original files on your PC, you can modify, sign, edit, etc, and tehen convert them to PDF using many freely available software.  It sounds like you have paper copies in hand but I just thought I would mention that.  There are also free pdf editors, fax software etc.

CamScanner by INTSIG Information Co.,Ltd does a good job from your phone

Guess one of those other guys who never run a business. There is a margin so employees rent maintenance, depreciation and taxes are paid from it. The OP just could buy a scanner too if he thinks its cheaper in the long run.

If they can do a photocopy for 2B or less (which these shops do) then charging 20B for a scan is clearly nonsense. The overheads for scanning are no higher than those for copying.

Who says these guys do 2b copies, plus overhead is not always distributed equally.

The normal price for photocopying is 2B or less. Only in rip-off places do they charge 5B.

Overheads like the rent, maintenance, depreciation, staff costs that you mentioned are clearly applicable in the same way to any item or service being provided by the shop.

That is not a fact, have you studied accounting ?

There are many ways to distribute overhead, if for instance this was done based on how much room the item took up. Then an item like this would have a higher markup then a copier that is used more. (higher output lower markup).

Anyway my job is accounting and there are various ways to distribute overhead so no nonsense at all.

I think it is like McDonalds where they advertise dollar menu items and then upsell to fries, drink, dessert etc. The place I go to pushes 50 satang copies on their billboard.

Anyways I have bought this wireless printer with scanning app: https://www.lazada.co.th/products/canon-pixma-ts307-inkjet-wireless-printer-with-smartphone-copy-i261778243-s402945234.html?spm=a2o4m.searchlist.list.1.274b1ac6ixkosL&search=1

My last 2 trips to the copy place set me back 300 baht for 12 pages each time so this should pay for itself quickly.
