This Pound to Baht exchange rate prediction is enough to make you cry

pound-sterling-forecast-GBP.jpg

If you’re one of the many long term British retirees in Thailand who long for the days of 50, 60, 70 or even 80 Baht to the Pound, look away now!

A new Pound to Baht exchange rate forecast by The Economy Forecast Agency (EFA) makes for grim reading for Brits living in Thailand.

The EFA predicts a low of just 27 Baht to the Pound by 2023, which would value 1,000 baht at £37!

Of course this is just a forecast, and whether the Pound gets stronger or weaker against the Baht depends on a wide range of factors, some of which even the most experienced of financial experts would be unable to predict.

Today you can get 39.83 Baht to the Pound but earlier this week it hit a new low of 39.67.

I was here when it was over 90 to the £, during '97. So not at all impressed. But hey ho, I only visit for holidays.

It's the people who live there on a fixed income who it really hurts.

There's no such thing as financial prediction - between now and 2023 plenty of unforeseen events could happen. I wouldn't be surprised if the baht gets weaker (against USD/Euro) rather than stronger. As for the UKP though - who knows...

Why no link to the source ?

Very often than articles made by ThaiVisa "News Team" don't show a link to the source

You should know that many readers may want to read more about some of these subjects,

and it's not always easy to find the source, even with Google help...

brexit means brexit, take it you don,t live in the uk,there was a democratic vote and the MAJORITY of people voted to leave, how long do you honestly think the eu will last when the uk leaves?

who actually made this prediction?mystic meg,or the mob that told us we,d all be doomed if we didn,t join the euro?

How does majority deserve caps when it was 51%?

That would infer almost half the population was against Brexit - only those with the mentality of a 13 year-old got carried away by the facebook hype, helped along by meddling Russians and lying idiots like Boris the UK Trump....

Those with brains voted against it, so the only logical conclusion is there are slightly more dumb people in the UK than intelligent...

Once Brexit is cancelled the Pound will revert back to 50, which is still ridiculously low against the manipulated Baht. That bubble will burst soon as well and then we could be back to 70 again.

Everyone's guess is equally valid...

You don’t understand the concept of winners and losers, do you?......despite being firmly entrenched in the latter category.

By the way, Brexit will not be cancelled.

Spoken with all the confidence of a 13 year old ???? we know you were on the wrong side.

Be honest, you also voted for 'Boaty Mc Boatface', didn't you? Another fine example of the English youth mentality...

When talking about massive entities such countries, the 200 billion can go puffff in a week under certain circumstances.

I don't know much about exchange rates but how does foreign exchange reserves affect the pound to baht? Britains foreign currency reserves are currently 173billion up from 40billion in 2001.

UK are 15th in the world only a couple of places behind Thailand.

As said, total denial.

I am told it is s common trait of losers.

What a great name Boaty McBoatface was though....... fitting for a polar research vessel.

Heard rumors my Financial Advisor, pre 2008, has been appointed to the The Economy Forecast Agency (EFA)!

Not all that bad. Put your money in a Thai bank and gain on the issue. Then in a few years you'll be happy whether you decide to take your money back to Britain or stay in Thailand. There are always two ways(or more) to look at such a situation. If you plan on living in Thailand and believe the baht will continue to appreciate per the forecast then deposit more in Thailand.
