What does S. W. A. T mean in Thailand. I don't think you would need special weapons and tactical to check the papers of a few migrant workers would you?  Slave worker arrest team?

Anyone remember all those stories last year, I think, that work permits would allow you to work anywhere in Thailand and so many reckoned they could just travel around working here there and everywher

I could be, but I don't think I am unless you've got some strong evidence to the contrary...

I am all for them arresting illegals BUT why the big show from the fuzz and why do the media play out these xenophobic rituals. Does anyone one know if the Thai media keep reporting them the same as the English language media or is it just the English language media's editorial "policy" to scare us?

That is why I asked what is really going on in Thailand. Many here think that they will be immune to the next stupid turn in rules. Like it or not we are all on our way out one way or another. Those roundups says more than you can imagine.

A more detailed list of the criminals, overstays, illegal entry and nationalities of said foreigners would be most interesting.

From the article:

“There were serious concerns that students may not be able to graduate” if the English mastery requirement was set to high, he said.

As opposed to being set to "medium", or to "low", or to "defrost"? Or perhaps set to "deep fat fry", like they do with scorpions and cockroaches? Nice of the article author to give us an example, however.
