Has anyone used the VFS office in Chiang Mai for a Standard Visitor visa application?  I'm a bit confused by the fact that the VFS site says that a "Photograph Service" is unavailable in Chiang Mai.  Does this mean that they are not able to take the biometric scans (i.e. photo and fingerprints)?  Any other gotchas with this application centre?

Thanks in advance.

To answer my own question, yes they are able to do the biometric scans in Chiang Mai and everything went smoothly with using this VFS office instead of Bangkok.

Which country's Visas can they do, Schengen UK etc please?

yes UK uses VFS.. We easily got a 5 year tourist visa there.

I fail to understand everyones complaints about western visa applications, or comparing Thailands as 'easy' and western ones as hard.. I have done visa apps for Ireland, Holland, portugal, germany, etc etc and never had anything but total smooth handling, tick the right boxes, show some money, the whole thing is done. UK will give a decade tourist visa if you have been a couple of times prior, how easy is that !!

My sister in law, went from uk visit, uk marriage, and now UK citizen in just over 5 years.. UK pensions, benefits, support, equality under law.. free language and cultural integration schooling, all a breeze and red carpet compared to coming here.
