A similar exercise of force in Pattaya looking for prostitutes later turned up some in soi 6.

Maybe next week they’ll find one overstayer in trap 2 of the toilets ????

Will they hang him out to dry?

So what are you saying? That they weren't actually looking for foreigners on overstay and Naew Na made it all up? Because if you're not saying that, then I don't see where there's any 'mickey-taking' going on in the Naew Na article.

They report that it was an exercise to look for overstayers and none were found. It's a purely factual report - unless you're saying it's not true.

No, I didn't say that.  I was commenting on the fact that so many posters could not see the obvious, mis-directed, gratuitous ridicule towards the security agencies with which the article was written by Naew Na.

That so many posters could not see the 'obvious, mis-directed, gratuitous ridicule' you write of perhaps makes the 'obvious, mis-directed, gratuitous ridicule' not so obvious !!!

I wonder what they would do if they actually found an overstayer?

Oh, small talk about a gift/brown envelope. Failing that, deportation.

You all looking at it wrong

A very smart, compassionate officer was watching The Terminal over the weekend and the operation code name was #SaveTom

Didn't know they had any.

Dum dum tss

I don't think tourists will be impressed to see this lot strutting around. Most foreigners are law-abiding. If they get hassled too much, the will just go elsewhere.

Whether it is a “Dog and Pony” show or an actual attempt to strictly enforce  it’s Immigration Laws I applaud the effort.  Something like this in the US would lead to a Democrat and SnowFlake meltdown.

They did make some interesting discoveries tho.

For one... the cars in the long stay car park belong to people that are not here/abroad.

Who would have guessed that one..

They can't even wait for them to get to the airport car park before shaking them down for a bribe?

Or sarcasm either.

Perhaps the officials thought long stay car park was going to be full of overstaying foreigners who had been sitting in their cars for months at a time. Perhaps someone could enlighten them as to their actual purpose?  ????

A sniffer dog completed the line-up

In order to catch the rotten apples on overstay, they've trained him to sniff out expired dates.

I would love to have seen these plebs traipsing around the Long Stay Car Park hoping to catch a farang hiding in the midst of it.

that dog is the secret weapon - can sniff out overstays - woof

He's been in my mind recently since our beloved leader suggested reading Animal Farm. Thinking about Napoleon brought back memories of Captain Mainwairing.

Maybe they were trying to intercept overstayers before they got to the immigration counter to pay their fines?

A clever bunch indeed.

Why do we have to be outside in the field where it is so darn hot anyway?

The team leader should be promoted to come up with the idea.

A sniffer dog and bomb guy. On a search for overstayers. At the airport. And long-term parking lot. Just when you think they can't get stupider, they come out with all their coloured feathers, line up and take some pictures to prove that they can sustainably out-stupid their own stupidity.

where are YOU.....THAILAND!!!!!

Stupid question .

well I suppose they were rostered on duty, being paid, so give a show of doing something, instead of sitting on their devices talking to the GF.

An excellent post there - cheers!

They must only need to feed the dog on dried meat, as he obviously gets his 'five a day' with the apples and dates.

No surprise they didn't find anything.

I mean , look at the picture. The dog isn't paying attention. His mind has wandered off . Hopeless.

Any evidence of Prostitution .....??

How could foreigners get caught for overstay when they're arriving to Thailand?

The dusty cars are staked out
