Finance Minister Uttama Savanayana has instructed his legal advisors to take action against five individuals for allegedly discrediting him in connection with the state-run Krung Thai Bank’s controversial loan granted to the Krisda Mahanakorn Group over a decade ago, said Palang Pracharat deputy spokesman Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana on Thursday.

He warned Pheu Thai MPs to stop implicating Mr. Uttama in the loan controversy, claiming that the finance minister had already been cleared of any wrongdoing and the court had already imposed prison terms on several people who were directly involved in the controversy.

Thanakorn said that Mr. Uttama would give a clarification about the case on Friday as he branded the Pheu Thai party’s minutes of the bank’s board meeting, purportedly showing Mr. Uttama was among the board members who approved 8 billion baht loan to the Krisda Mahanakorn Group, as a fake.

No..this is how they do it.

Speak against them and you run the risk of being financially destroyed. It is a very effective tool in suppressing free speech in Thailand and has been employed on many an occasion. It will also destroy any form of Parliamentary Privilege and hamstring any attempts at achieving any form of constructive criticism and analysis in the future.

It is also why their academics are tame poodles and their middle class is quiescent-there are so many ways to punish people who step out of line in Thailand-and this is one of them.

Good for him. He should sue.  Slander is not permitted in 'free speech' laws.

Do you think it's ok for PTP to use fake information to discredit him?

Maybe PTP MP's should ask their paymaster and boss to come  back and stand trial as he's accused; or perhaps ask what progress there is on Oak's case in this fraud!

Of 5 board members in the meeting 3 are sentenced to 18 years in prison and 2 walk Free.

He is leader of the pro Junta Palang Pracharath Party and now Finance minister.
Personally I would probably have chosen a different guy for the job.

It's rumoured that the 2 struck a deal with ASC to be witnesses against the “big boss” i.e Thaksin in the case.

"he branded the Pheu Thai party’s minutes of the bank’s board meeting, purportedly showing Mr. Uttama was among the board members who approved 8 billion baht loan to the Krisda Mahanakorn Group, as a fake"

"branded" - this sounds like an "allegation" rather than "proof."

Would it be the same as "branding" Mr. Uttama as a liar? When in Thailand defamation needs no evidence of truth, it can go against both a plaintiff and defendant. Uttma might find himself in a counter suit.
