Why are they starting it in July with only 5 months to hi season, why didn't they start it in February at the end of the last hi season, that way they would have plenty of time before the so called millionaires arrive. Not very smart thinking Pattaya.

Well the alternative would have been May. There have been a few Beach Rd events, like the music festival since May. Fireworks competition was May and food festival just before that. Doesn't matter really, won't be finished on time.

Plus police stick-ups at the most inconvenient spots like the junction between Thepprasit and Suk.  Meanwhile convoys of coaches clog up the Railway road.  Pattaya has become a no-go area to replace the go-go era.

Police check on Suk 42 (boxing stadium) as I cut through yesterday to Sukhumvit from Arunothai, trying to avoid the Klang roadworks. (Fortunately a no helmet check and waved through). Amazing they choose the routes one uses to avoid the road works. Tai has always been rubbish, now Klang is bad, and Nua has been awful since T21. Can't get into town lately! Now Beach Rd if you can get that far!

I don't want to be seen as a naysayer, merchant of doom and gloom and quite frankly sceptical of the last 15 years (that I know of) improvements to Beach Road, but does anyone want a bet that whatever they are doing will have absolutely zero effect on the flooding problem of beach road and the beach.

Just another 95 Million Baht to be shared with the lucky few, the first decent rainstorm after completion will have the usual result.

Other opinions are available.............

1/2 meter pipe is a joke, should be 2 or 3 meter pipe!

You guys don't understand Thai engineering excellence! the person who has the contract for installing the 1/2m pipe will also get the contract to install the 2m pipe ????

Everybody happy then ????

So these very clever engineers really have no idea the amount of water a monsoon storm drops on Pattaya on a regular basis during the wet season,500mm pipes, ridiculous, may as well install some straws from 7-11.

Think of the poor turtles!
