Who will be Scotland's King or Queen ?

Right. Firstly this is not for Brexit bashing, Scot bashing or any other bashing just looking for some historical info. So please keep it at that.  Irrespective of whether Brexit happens or not Scotland may one day be allowed another independence referendum.  Assuming that happens, and again assuming the results go in favour of an independent Scotland then I have two questions, mainly aimed of course at our Scottish members.

Firstly what would be the likelihood of Scotland being a republic or re-establishing its monarchy ? Secondly and assuming the latter, who would actually be in line to become King or Queen of an independent Scotland ?

Over to you folks

It will definitely be bonny Billy Connolly .

As much as I like his humour I didn't think he was in line. Plus of course he has Parkinsons disease so soon won't even know where Scotland is perhaps.

Come on, it was meant to be serious or else Rod Stewart would be up for it.

Rod Stewart is ENGLISH. OK his Dad was a Scot, but lived in London where Roderick was born.

mel easily qualify for king of scotland

Sorry but painting your face blue and shouting "freedummmmmmmmmm!!!!" while wearing plaid doesn't quite hack it. It ended badly for William Wallace as well.

Well..maybe Mary Queen of Scots will make a comeback.

There has never been a king or queen of Scotland-the correct title being (as in the above mentioned Mary) King or Queen of Scots.

Not that the English were having a bar of it-however there may be some Balliol descendants-they would certainly be in line and take precedence over the Bruces (de Broas') or the Stewarts..

Not directly a political topic yet but it outside of the purpose of this forum.
