Simple fact of the matter is, neither the Thai police nor the Thai courts treat reckless driving / drunk driving / road mayhem as seriously as it deserves to be treated in order to protect human life. He will not be able to bribe anyone and he will be severely punished for his crime.

Couldnt understand when i said she was nuts. Terrifying.
July 30, 20196 yr He obviously forgot he was not driving home. At home there would be zero legal issues.
July 30, 20196 yr Popular Post It's irresponsible to let a Thai drive in another country, it should be forbidden for all Thais. Most signs on major roads are in Japanese and English so a Thai is clueless. All countries shouldn't accept Thai international driver licenses.
July 30, 20196 yr Popular Post More than likely, it was a combination of being distracted by his GPS, and unbelievable poor driving skills, which I am convinced can be said about the majority of drivers here. They just do not have proper training, take ridiculous risks, and seem incredibly impatient when behind the wheel. This man has caused alot of harm. It was obviously his fault. One hopes he is subjected to a very harsh punishment, the kind he would likely not get here. Word will get around, and perhaps it will do some good. Thai people need to figure out a way to take personal responsibility for their actions. This is something they have a very hard time with. "The Thai community page Hokkaido Fanclub (facebook.com/Hokkaidofanclub) said in a post on Tuesday morning that the accused tourist’s younger sister had said police did not allow her to see her brother. According to the page, Japanese law allows police to keep a suspect detained for interrogation in the first 48 hours after arrest". Even after her brother caused this tragedy, this rather surly and silly young woman posted online that the Japanese police are causing problems. Instead of expressing remorse, and attempting to comfort the victims of her brother? Please. Edited July 30, 20196 yr by spidermike007
July 30, 20196 yr Popular Post THAI LOGIC : Thai driver is NOT responsible. Japanese drivers in the oncoming lane are responsible !!! If they weren't in the oncoming lane, accident not have happened. THAT'S THAI LOGIC !!!
July 30, 20196 yr He will have quite a story to tell when after a few years he finally gets home. A proper trial after a competent forensic analysis- his excuse of being preoccupied by the sat nav rightly interpreted as effectively his admission to driving without due care and attention /dangerous driving. No influence by money, connections or other bs having any effect. He simply won’t be believed by his Thai mates! ????
July 30, 20196 yr You just know he was really on his smart phone and absent-mindedly let the car drift into the oncoming traffic. In any event, he's in hot water that he probably can't bribe his way out of.
July 30, 20196 yr Popular Post 5 hours ago, webfact said: The page also took the opportunity to inform the Thai public that a charge of reckless driving causing injury or death is punishable by a maximum seven years imprisonment and a maximum fine of ¥1 million (approximately Bt285,000), while a drunk-driving case would result in the punishment being doubled, with a maximum jail term of 15 years. A bit different to what he would have been facing if the accident took place in Thailand... now he's going to find out what being held responsible for your actions really means !

Frankly they should be confined to Thailand. Killing an injuring their own is one thing but allowing them to enter other countries and carry on in the " Thai" way should be globally banned.
