Govt panel gives nod to use of zodiac signs for new lottery

An unprecedented lottery pattern, in which symbols of 12 traditional zodiac signs can be used to freely punt the numbers, has been approved by a joint government committee yesterday.

 

Punters can choose four signs representing the four numbers they want, for results to be announced on the first and 16th of each month, separate from the numbers of the current lottery tickets issued and announced by the Government Lottery Office.

 

The new lottery pattern is dubbed "Pictures 12" and has a number of pricing options. The panel did not say at the press conference when it would be launched. "The idea will undergo public hearing comprising all stakeholders, before it is submitted to a committee, and later for Cabinet approval," a committee spokesman said.

 

The committee cited two prime objectives in creating the new government lottery pattern: overpricing of the current government lottery tickets, and curbing illegal underground lottery.

Logically the odds of picking the first number are 12/1. Same for the second third and fourth numbers. So it would be 12 x 12 x 12 x 12 to get all four in order, or 20,736/1. 

 

I don't think I'd bet on a horse at that price. It would have three legs. ????
