Interestingly he is not the only one. But I do like his ideas in this area a lot. My issue with Pete is that he doesn't seem to have the chops (or maturity - I don't know which) to deal with relatively minor issues in a medium-sized town... how will he be able to reign in a teetering democracy?

Who else has been talking about those structural issues?
Maybe Warren?

I agree with you about his immaturity. Of course he's objectively very young for the presidency and that is a legitimate concern just as being too old is a legitimate concern.

I see him more as Veep potential.

Yang also promotes major structural change, for instance: 18 year term for Supreme Court justices. Many other things. I like Mayor Pete; I think he's very smart and thoughtful. Even if he had the support I don't see a willingness to move the needle much and that's probably due to who he gets his funding from.

You want to see my papers? I consider this line of your posting to be obnoxious and disingenuous.

No. I believe you are what you say in all aspects. I really enjoy engaging you because you are reasonable, rational, and intelligent.

But I cannot believe that you can't take a step back, out of your own skin and see the downside of flippant references on an anonymous forum.

Uh huh.

I'll put it another way.

You don't have to be Jewish to like bagels and you don't have to be Jewish to see that Bernie Sanders is a cranky old Jewish man. Because he is. It wouldn't offend me at all if non-Jews said that truth about him. It's not news. It's been talked about openly for years. It's been pictured numerous times in Saturday Night Live comedy skits. It was seen as cute in 2016 but I think that has faded.

Do you have inside information from Stephen Miller?

Nope, I look at the amount of people at Trump rallies, verse the amount of People at Biden events, and the Socialist/democrat platform. It ain’t rocket science.

Wow. That's brilliant stuff. I'm not so worried after reading that at our prospects of beating 45.

Ok. I get you.

I'll try again.

Why does the phrase "cranky old man" require the "Jewish" descriptive?

Cranky old man says it all adding the last part seems gratingly superfluous no matter what community you are from.

Oh, I get it now.

You don't see color.

You don't see ethnicity.

I have nowhere to go with you on this.

Just leave it.

Uh huh? I don't get the condescending response.

I live in the rural south so I don't do "bar chat" with other expats. I belong to a grand total of 2 forums - TV and a motorcycle racing forum.

I read a lot but I usually skim over terms like those or SJW or neocon of neolib because they are always irrelevant to the actual meat of the writings.

When I asked I was genuinely interested in finding out.

To me purist in this context are the type of people that saw how evil "trump" was but had some issues with Hillary, too much of a corporatist for example so just didn't vote.

Or voted for Jill Stein as a protest vote that was really a shoot yourself in the foot vote.

Politics is often even usually picking the lesser of two evils.

Purist in the left wing context is preferring no incremental progress and in effect promoting further damage from the right wing rather than compromising on incremental progress.

Not seeing color is something that silly people say when talking about race or in the case of Sanders, ethnicity. Trying to be too liberal and too PC for their own good or anyone elses.

Bernie is so obviously an American Jewish man in background, accent, speech syntax patterns, and gestures. Yes the structure of Yiddish grammar has influenced how many American Jews speak to this day.

Not religiously. Ethnically and culturally.

Not all old Jewish men are so obviously Jewish. But he is. So what's the problem with saying it?

It's not a secret, He isn't hiding it. Why the ultra sensitivity in referring to him that way?

Obviously the actual phrasing and tone matters so references to Jewish identity could be and often are indeed hateful depending on such details.

As far as race, I don't know your background, but I suggest you try to approach an African American person and after talking to him telling him that you don't see that because you don't see color so it hasn't registered that he's an African American man. Most of the time a person like that would think you're either insane or liberal / PC to an absurd degree. It doesn't make the person look like an ally. It makes the person look like a FOOL.

Favoring civil rights for all does not mean play acting fantasies that differences don't exist.

Does that help? (Asking not optimistically.)

Thank you. I had no idea. There is no doubt that is a very bad call... despite the issues I saw with Hillary, I have known 45's ilk personally. Not a hope in heck that that would have happened. And that is just another reason why I respect Bernie so much... he had no problem tucking tail and doing the right thing. And got dumped on because of his decision to back Hillary 100%... And gets no credit with moderates for it now. Sad.

The first paragraph I now understand and agree with completely. I think that one's called "virtue signaling"... apparently I did know a buzz word!!

I think that's my point... I have peripherally known of Bernie for at least a decade but I had no idea he was jewish until 2016. Didn't know, didn't care.

If you knew me in person you would also question why I would be so sensitive about this because I really have no filter when verbalizing, but when I have the time to think (typing) I try to be more careful with my, uhm, idioms... As a privileged old white male I try to be as sensitive as possible in public forums... you really don't know who you are talking to and what their agenda may be. I just didn't see any benefit, to anyone, of adding the extra descriptor and I was feeling a wee bit salty... If no one had told me, he was just another old, angry, clever, New Yorker...

I totally agree the 45 fans are not going away. It's tragic but he's changed the U.S. political landscape for at least a generation. What I don't agree about is your implication that he won mostly based on economics. There is ample evidence he won mostly based on RACISM.

Over 200 counties that President Obama carried twice went for Trump because they’re racist?

Bernie endorsing Hillary was the least he could do.

If you didn't realize before that Bernie was a Jew I can only assume you know very little about Jewish culture. That's fine. I don't know everything in the world either

What's next. People that don't know Barbara Streisand is Jewish? Larry David?

How would I have discerned he was Jewish from his voting record and policy ideas? These were the only things I knew about him. Its not as though I sit around wondering... he was just another guy.

In a sentence, this is what is wrong with "democracy" in America right here.

She is a candidate who is clearly fighting for the people. That is her number one priority. Not pleasing the rich and the likes of the military industrial complex, but actually fighting for the people.

The truth is the democrats have an embarrassment of riches on who to put up that have a great chance of beating the current occupant of the white house.

Yes, but  you know as well as I do that unhinging the support of Trump's followers is nearly impossible.

They don't give a sheet how ignorant he sounds or acts.
