Cheapest New Motorbike

Featured Replies

I need to buy - for cash - a basic motorbike that'll ferry my girlfriend's mother on chores - all within 5 miles, but on dirt roads.

The local (Pak Chong) shop has a Honda Wave 100 for 31,000 baht. Is that the rock bottom price for a new motorbike?

Also, this is not a dedicated Honda dealer. I'm totally ignorant about recognizing older/newer models. Should I go to a Honda dealer to get reliable guidance/sale on this point? Or maybe the model thing is unimportant for this. (I've only ever bought cars before, and know nothing about motorbikes.)

Thats the cheapest semi auto wave you can get. If you dont mind getting a manual then you can take the price down to 29000, however they arnt as easy to drive if your used to a auto. Not sure about other makes but to be honest you wouldnt be saving much and honda is by far the best anyway.

Thanks for the info. So I'll stick with the Honda. I don't think that the semi auto point is an issue; I won't be using it, and those who will were previously using a VERY old model bike so they'll find this an improvement.

Do these hondas have new models each year - like cars? If so how do I ensure I'm looking at the latest model?

How important is the manual? And since the matter wasn't raised at all by the dealer, can I insist on the 2000b discount, or is this not a given?

By manual I mean not auto gear, i.e the bike has a clutch. This model is called the Wave Z and the semi auto is the Wave S. The vast majority of waves and other wave style things are semi auto so if thats probably what they are used to. I got my wave Z with disk brake at the front for 29000 plus 1000 for registation and insurance as I prefer to have a clutch. The models are just about the same each year except for some different colours etc..

You could buy a second hand Honda Wave 100 and save 6/8K? Dont buy anything really old; maybe less than 4 years old?

platinum motors in pattaya is having a promotion on there semi automatic bikes 125cc next week 19,999 brand new 3 yr warranty.I bought a auto not to long ago and it's a grat bike

Latest model? Are you serious? These basic hondas haven't changed since Mr Honda was putting generator engines in bicycle frames in his garden shed. Just buy the cheapest honda they have and it will handle the distinct lack of maintenance it's gonna have to contend with
