I haven't been to the new Airport yet, ( Lucky or Unlucky ?? ) I am not even sure where it is, having spent the last 12 months up North.

I am looking for options, time and cost between Morchit and the new Airport. Probably late afternoon for a late night flight to Oz, on a Saturday afternoon.

I expect there is already an answer in this forum, but my computer link is a little slow to go through over 30 pages !

Should take about an hour by taxi, costing around 300 baht depending which way you go. I would only catch a taxi from there and allow at least 1-1.5 hours in the day, but only about 40mins-1hr at night.

If you're interested in doing it cheaply, there seems to be a lot of buses that go between Mochit and the Suvarnabhumi Transportation Center. I was at the Transportation Center once and saw I think three different buses from Mochit arrive in the span of about 30 minutes. I'm not sure of the cost or schedule, but maybe someone else does, or just ask when you arrive in Mochit. From the Transportation Center, there is a free shuttle bus that will drop you off at the terminal. There's two different shuttle buses, one marked Level 2 (Arrivals), and one marked Level 4 (Departures).

As usual Mr. Soju is right BUT a big BUT: thse buses do NOT take pax FROm MOchit to Suvpoom!

However there are several other cheap=bus options:

1.DIRECT bus to Suvpoom from NONGH KHAI - UDORN, 1, overnight. from Nkhai at 20.30

2.ALL buses from Isan STP befotre BKK proper at FUTURE RANGSIT= that giant shoppoing cnetre. from THERE plnety of CITYbuses to Suvpoom: 555, 554 and the fastest= 559, all run 24 hrs and take 80/90 mins. 554/55 PASS old Don Muang and mainly serve the 10.000s of airport workers wo saw job transferred and not home. ALL Airpt buses cost a flat 35 bt.

3.when I passed some weeks ago viaMochit; they announced MINIbuses direct to suv pomm at either 50 or 60 bt. TAKE heed and DO make certain they drop you of at either terminal or busstation, otherwise itas a miserable taxi just in the air-field! Asd wit all Thai miibusers: hardly any room for big luggage. I visited Suvpoom y citybus near daily in dec/jan and saw NO miniva then at the time!

4.ALL, if asked, Buses from isan ALSO sto at Old D Muang, from hwree also dedicated very new+nice minivans run direct to Suv poom, from just inside the old taxiway, around corner from Bosstop. 40 or 50 bt.

Thu: the thing to rememeber is to NOT get all the way to Mochit (liek about any Thai never does either)

If your luggage consists of anything more than a handbag or briefcase you may find the city 55n buses very challenging. Given your schedule (day) I'd take the bus all the way to Mo Chit, then take a taxi from the official taxi stand to Suvarnabhumi. There is an entrance to the tollway opposite the bus station so it should take ~ 30 min. and be 250 baht. If you were coming in on a weekday at rush hour(s) I'd suggest getting off at Future Park/Rangsit and taking a taxi from there.

Skytrain to On-Nut then taxi.

Have you actually ever done this?

How do you propose the OP get from the Mo Chit bus station to the BTS station at Mo Chit, presumably with luggage? Walk?

I can't imagine schlepping luggage onto the BTS, through the turnstiles, up 3 floors, then carrying it back down 3 floors at On Nut. I'm sorry but this is not a good recommendation. Even without bags it would be an odd way to go as it would take longer and cost more than a taxi. (40 baht for motorcy to BTS, 40 baht to Mo Chit, 200 baht to BKK).

:D

If you could wait for about five or six years, there will be an MRT line (the red line) that connects Mochit bus terminal directly to the new airport. Just have to wait a bit. In the mean time, your best option is probably to take a taxi. :o

300 baht is such a small price to pay to avoid all the other pitfalls that await you along the path of buses, transfers, skytrain, etc, etc....

Many thanks all !

Yes I think 300 Baht is a small price to pay for relative peace of mind.

It was just that I didn't have any idea of the cost of a taxi to the new airport.

I may come back on the bus when I return 10 days later. As I am going on a visa run I expect to travel light going out of Thailand. Coming back could be a different story ( things I cannot buy in Thailand )

220 THB taxi + 65 THB total for tollways.

From Mochit, go back to central lad prao (on phaonyotin), then turn right - > highway et voila.

Just be sure that the taxi take the left lane at first tollway... otherwise he can go via Bang Na. But it's much longer.

40 minutes exactly. Did it many times between 9 and 11 PM, on different week days. No trafic.

Wapijohn, I'd be intersted in the details of the return trip from Suvarnabhumi to Mor Chit. We generally get to BKK around 10 or 11PM.
