Chiang Mai’s Om Koi district was shaken by two small earthquakes late on August 23 and early the following day, the Seismological Bureau announced.

The bureau, which is part of the Meteorological Department, said the first magnitude 2.9 took place at 9.59pm. Its epicentre was 4-kilometres deep and located at 17.564 degrees latitude North and 98.233 degrees longitude East.

The second 2.1-magnitude quake took place at 12.28am on August 24. Its epicentre was about 3 km deep, located at 17.577 degrees latitude North and 98.177 degrees longitude East.
