PHUKET: Phuket Governor Phakaphong Tavipatana has filed a request for B38 million in the hopes of finally securing the funds needed to finish the B546mn new Phuket Provincial Hall that has sat for years unfinished on the south side of Phuket Town.

In his first days on the island as Phuket Governor, Gov Phakaphong on Oct 5 last year called for a new contractor to be signed by no later than December 2018 to complete the work. That great leap forward has yet to happen.

At a meeting on Friday (Sept 6), Governor Phakaphong announced that he had filed a request with the Ministry of Interior for B38mn in order to finally complete the decades in coming project.

Maybe some of the hotels building new and shiny establishments could donate some funds to the cause, or even some of their expertise to get the job over the line. They only need a bit over $1.25 mil USD (this may change with the rise of the THB)

When completed will the new shiny provincial hall fit into the architecture of the surrounding area, the decrepitude of the current incomplete building has a certain resonance.

and the original funds went where exactly

is it just me or does that building look like it should be demolished - are there funds for that lol

And the next question will be.......where will the 38 million baht go which is budgeted to complete this ugly monument to corruption.
