March 21, 200718 yr Can anyone tell me the law in Thailand if you wish to open a new resort? I have been told that the law has changed and you can not call it a resort anymore and you can not let your rooms out for just one night.
March 21, 200718 yr Talk to Sunbelt, they have all the details and mechanisms in place. Many, many good reports about this outfit "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
March 21, 200718 yr If your opening a resort one would think you have enough money for a good lawyer?
March 22, 200718 yr Author If your opening a resort one would think you have enough money for a good lawyer? So what do you mean exactly? Don’t ask a question …… Not sure why you think you needed to post such a silly reply and I didn’t see where I said I didn’t have money to get a good lawyer or opening a resort
March 22, 200718 yr It's not April 1st yet is it? I would love to know who told you this and where they got the information from. What do they want you offer accomdation as hourly (lol)!!!!! I really want to see this regulations. Please if any one has a translation please post it. Seriously it may have something to do with the definition of a resort and an hotel (land area etc). Please somebody just out of interest pls provide some more info.

I had the same thoughts as you I have been told by a farang that a farang who owns a resort in kranuan told him this and I said it was bull sh*t But he said he was adamant that it was true and that all resorts would have to change their name I am interested to see how true it is I have asked sunbelt but not had a reply
March 24, 200718 yr Terrible to see the authorities "resort" to this! This is surely the last "resort".
March 24, 200718 yr My guess is that this may be a confused rendering of changes which were suggested to be made to the 'hotels act' several years ago. This was meant to make it more difficult for serviced apartments to be offered for short {e.g. 1 to 3 nights} in competition with hotels. since there are different legal requirements/ costs which the hotels viewed as unfair competition. Further in the same vein there were suggestions that the use of terms of trade be defined, i.e. what is a Hotel, Hostel, etc. I don't know if anything came of it. Forgive the lack of clarity. Regards PS Since the forum rules prescribe comments about sponsors I say nothing.
