Khon Kaen sausage seller was tricked out of millions by scheming relative

A seller of "mam" (Thai sausages) and shabu shabu has gone to the Thai police claiming she was ripped off by a female relative to the tune of 2.5 million baht.

The 43 year old woman from Phon said she went to South Korea in August of last year where she bought some shabu equipment.

Thereafter a 31 year old relative with an ex-husband in Pattaya contacted her with a story that she was being investigated by immigration for non-payment of customs duty at Suvarnabhumi airport.

She said that her ex would help her make the case go away if she paid a bribe of 2.5 million baht.

Convinced that this was true the family sold vehicles and mortgaged land to find the money.

But when they thought their problems were over the relative reemerged to say that millions more were needed.

Now with the family virtually destitute and the sausage and shabu businesses on the rocks they had no money left and contacted other relatives.

It was now they realised that it had all been a scam.

The matter is now in the hands of the Khon Kaen police.

Which matter is investigated? Probably they admitted that they had imported without paying customs duty, otherwise there would have been no need for a bribe of course

Since when does immigration have anything to do with the customs department or customs fees. As smart as a pot plant

Must have bought a hell of lot of equipment,

maybe best if she does not go into business

if she could not smell a rat, with that scam.

Unfortunately when cases likes this are actually true... meaning bribery is needed to make things go away then sometimes it can be quite believable... but coming from a relative.. that's abhorrent!!

If the country didnt have such an appalling history of rampant  corruption , nobody would be sucked into these scams.

Even cops fell foul of a scam based on corrupt practises the other day !
