Forest run-off after several days of torrential rain has seriously damaged a boarding school in the Sai Yok area of Kanchanaburi in Thailand's mid-west.

The Mae Nam Noi or Noi River has burst its banks.

A video showed some of the area under threat from the raging waters.

Worst hit was the Somdej Phra Piyamaharat school that has 725 pupils in 14 dorms.

An official said all of the students were safe but 5 million baht in damage to buildings has been estimated.
