This is presumably because the Democrats so far refuse to hold a procedural vote to open an investigation. Not doing so allows them to keep things secret, thus the Kangaroo court claim. Trump is trying (I guess) to force the vote by ordering the EU ambassador to not testify at this time. Bad faith on all sides. Things getting hot!

Do some research, that is how all calls are 'recorded' now. These are professional intelligence officers who are assigned to do the analysis and write-ups during and after the call. There are no verbatim recordings any more. The intent is to saving work information.

Adam Schiff has to date refused to release the full transcript of Volker's testimony.  Why?  And why was the interview held behind closed doors?  To be sure, there's a strategy Schiff is employing and it's not to the people's benefit.

This may come as a shock to you, Trump, and everyone else who believes in an imperial presidency, but Trump doesn't make the rules for an impeachment inquiry.  There are few rules spelled out in the constitution, but the constitution clearly states it is the House's job to decide on impeachment and the Senate's job to decide on conviction.

 

In other words, the House makes the rules.

Trump's "historic letter" is a lie. Schiff made it clear that he was not reading the transcript word for word.

AFAIK the calls are recorded, but this one was tucked away as being top secret. In this digital age I would be very, very surprised of calls are recorded by recollection.

You just described that the conversations are recorded,just not recorded the same way they were back then. 

These "contemporaneous records " are saved, yet this record was stored at different place, a Top Secret  place, WHY???
