Hello all

Is it possible to bring wife & son to my home country (Australia) on >>>>>>>>> Visa & then apply for Citizenship (by Descent ) for my son only

Thanks in advance

If your son was born in Thailand, better to register his birth at the Australian Embassy here and get a Certificate of Australian Citizenship by Descent. Then you can get a passport for him allowing travel to Australia without restriction.  Quite straightforward if you have the appropriate proof of your Australian citizenship (birth certificate, naturalization certificate) and proof that you are the father of the child.

Your wife (you didn't specify but I will assume Thai) will need either a Tourist Visa for a short stay or a Partner Visa if she intends to reside in Australia.  The current current fee for the latter is AUD 7,715 and processing times can be well over a year.

Must agree. I did that for both my kids and from memory it was relatively painless although it was over 20 years ago.

Citizen by Descent and Australian passport for my daughter was quite easy to get at Australian Embassy in Bkk and then got my spouse a visa to accompany me to Australia was quite easy as well. Mostly done online.
