The team of researchers observed how individuals would react when they were given what was described as magic pen.

In a country that has an MP with a so called 'magic stone' worth billions they will believe in anything to keep them up with the hi-so

I suspect it's the latter that keeps these businesses going.

Would have liked to see a link to Dr. Pusaksrikit's research paper, anyone know where I might find it?

Probably on the back of a fag packet. Not exactly cutting edge research, is it?

Unfortunately this is very true, radical thinking and common sense are completely lacking!!

You mean rational.

A good deal of decision making everywhere in the world is based on "superstition", the Thai form is far less subtle, not having yet morphed into an amusing yet comforting Enlightment background socio-cultural element we have in the West

Of course, the risk taking aspects of superstitious behavior caanot be deemphasized. The Sankyat on the headliner of my taxi yesterday morning may or may not have protected me as my jolly driver (Ehh? America? I lob America! Hip Hop! *turns radio station to some throbbing Young Thug or Kanye or something) played Death Race 2019 down Rama IV (where you go? Lopbooree? Taxi, me 1000B! *punches it and scatters pedestrians in his wake* No traffic! Lopboooreeee) as I made it to Hua Lamphong in record time, fast enough for my usual slumside Cheese Omelet and an early train.

On the other hand, there surely is risk taking behavior involved in Western Superstition..look at that Norris Trophy Defenseman puts his pads on left to right while humming Geddy Lees Working Man, then goes out and hurles himself face first into a 100mph speeding hunk of frozen rubber. Ritual. Protect.

That being said, I wont walk under a ladder to pick up a gold piece.

I just like it when the girls go into Thermae and give a Wai to the House Spirit before..ahem...going to work.

I had a trip out the other day with my wife, we had to visit 3-4 different banks. I didnt ask what for just presumed it was something to do with the 27 business ventures she has going.

Turned out we were changing all the PIN numbers on her cards to lucky numbers.

Also, wife is selling her house, so another outing to visit agent, ampher, land office etc "AND" a visit to a specific temple in Bangkok (from Pattaya) to pray for the sale of the aforementioned house.

Superstitious, never.

Government policy decisions are probably based on the same beliefs. We know for sure that frog worship can play an important role.

Only if it's cooked and ends up as Toad In The Hole.

A magic pen..., just imagine if it had been a Magic Marker. :shock1:

Yes, a Magic Marker that can alter the direction of an approaching storm.

At home we eat frogs;

And after all this we will want to make us believe that Thai people are Buddhists ...
What a good joke

Well, he surrounds himself with toadies but sometimes forgets their names so a pat on the back has to do.
