Amazing Thailand: Never mind about serious diseases - it's the weekend!

Thai caption: This really happens?

Daily News reported that netizens were criticising the authorities after a man posted that he had returned from Africa on Sunday and reported to quarantine at Phuket International Airport.

He was anxious to comply with regulations about being checked out after returning from Yellow Fever danger areas.

But there was no one on the booth. He posted on the "Hey! These are Thai airports" page that he was told that staff didn't work at the weekends.

He commented cheekily that it was a pity that customs didn't have the same policy.

Netizens were aghast that dangerous diseases could enter Thailand while officials had the weekend off.

Daily News did not report any contact with the relevant authorities over the matter. They just asked: Does this really happen?

Make sense to me, as we have witnessed countless times how the government CAN talk the talk, but hardly and often due to backtracking, walk the walk...

This is exactly the Thailand I know!

Just typed sarcasm into my English Thai translator. It did work, but was not able to actually say it.

Everybody knows there are no sick people, at weekends. They are only reporting illness at regular working days.
