It would be interesting to know where these tourists are going?

Hua Hin business people sure complain about the lack of tourists there?

We can go back and forth where numbers came from. So I would only

like to know where all these tourists went, because it was and still dead everywhere . Phuket , Pattaya all reporting empty rooms and empty beaches.

Arrivals are not necessarily tourists. And, I flew via DMK in October (11th and 15th) and DMK was just about empty on domestic and international sides.

Tourist arrivals in Thailand rose 10.11% in September from a year earlier, after an increase of 7.35% in August, the tourism ministry said in a statement.

Dear Minister, I understand that you enjoy immensely being present daily in the media, unfortunately it is very difficult (impossible) to believe you, one day you cry because not enough tourists arrive, the next day you rejoice as a child who has received a gift, and present ++ ++!
Decide what to say / do, because now you have lost the trust of the people!
What I see is that many destinations have been for months without or with very few tourists, talk with the people who don't know how to keep their business alive!

This is garbage. Pattaya has been empty more or less for months. All you need to do is look at You Tube. Also it would be interesting to see the spend per nation !!

Of course I have been in and out twice in both September and October, so there is a 200% increase with one person.

I really dont understand why it matters so much to TV readers. Every time its mentioned the same knicker-knotted people come out to foam with rage. Why? How does affect you?

This is the general modus operandi, any opportunity to bash anything Thai is not to be missed, the herd is currently in TAT bashing mode, at 11 they'll be bashing something new.

Not denying its truth, as I am not someone who posts about tourists numbers declining as I genuinely have no idea, However, are they really able to calculate this within 3 - 4 weeks?

A total of 2.9 million tourists in September spent 139.6 billion baht ($4.62 billion), up 8.73% from a year earlier.

If anyone can, the Thais can!!

Try telling that to any of the business in Pattaya.....hed be chased out of town...

Maybe if TAT and other related bodies told the truth,  they wouldn't get bashed  so much. It's obvious just looking around and speaking to owners of business that numbers are down and the worst for years.  last week I was at both immigration and Survanbumi,  never seen either place that quite in ten years.

One day up. Next day down. One day broke. Next day spending billions.

It applies to most government departments in Thailand.

I can't keep up ????

Don't try to keep up, just sit back with a beer and watch the daily comedy show, now screening on channel TAT555

There seems to be no consistent narrative around tourism in Thailand.

Hotels are saying they are under utilised

Government numbers are apparently "up"

Who are the statisticians collating and analysing  the numbers and checking the veracity of them

One thing to remember is you can have hotel bookings down and tourist numbers still be up--due to Airbnb and the like.  In the past few years in Pattaya, we had The Base, Centric Sea, Unixx, Riveria Wong Amat, Riviera Jomtien, Grand Caribbean, and the two Lumini projects in Naklua open--each averaging around 1000 rooms.  That's 8000 rooms dumped on the market--and some of them are being rented to short-term visitors who in years past would have booked a hotel room.  I haven't even mentioned the dozen or so very large low-rise projects like Atlantis, the Lagunas, Venetian, Espana, Seven Seas, and so on that are also pulling in short-term renters.  And, add all these to the new, actual hotels that have also opened.  The tourist pie has gotten bigger but so has the number of venues wanting a slice.

Can't wait to tell the lads this news in the local (pub) tonight?

I hear what you are saying for sure but on another note i did make 2 trips into Bangkok from Dubai during September and 3 in October and the plane was rammed on each occasion. So it was busier than i have seen for a while for sure.

I live in Nana central Bangkok and the place is empty... never seen it so quite in 3 years. If there are tourists in Thailand, they are not in Bangkok!!

Definitely time to get the antiquated old Windows software up to date.

Maybe the hotels registrations or TM30 would give a better figure.

Nana Central, not surprising...how about the CBD and Chinatown?

Really ... who cares ? Do you ? Does it make a difference to the average Thai citizen ? Whatever these authorities say will always be doubted. Next stat please !
