Tropical depression to bring rain to upper and central Thailand

Isolated thundershowers will bring rain to the North, the lower Central a the East including Bangkok and vicinity over the next few days, while the South will see isolated heavy rain, the Thailand Meteorological Department forecast on Wednesday (October 30).

 

The department also warned that at 1am today, the category 2 (depression) over the Middle China Sea developed into a category tropical storm named Matmo. At 4am, the storm was 300 kms east of Vinh, Vietnam. It is expected to make landfall over the Central of Vietnam by today, then move to Cambodia before bringing rain to the lower Northeast, lower Central, the East, and upper South of Thailand. Flash flooding and water runoff can be expected.

 

The weather forecast for the next 24 hours is as follows:

 

Northern region: Partly cloudy with thunder showers in 20 per cent of the area, temperature lows of 21-24 degrees and highs of 31-37degrees Celsius. Temperature likely to drop to 11-15 degrees on hilltops

 

Northeastern region: Partly cloudy with thunder showers in 20 per cent of the area, temperatures lows 21-24 degrees and highs of 32-34degrees Celsius. Temperature likely to drop to 13-15 degrees on hilltops

 

Central region: Partly cloudy weather with thunder showers in 10 per cent of the area; lows 23-25 degrees, highs 34-36degrees Celsius.

 

Eastern region: Mostly cloudy weather with thunder showers in 30 per cent of the area; lows 23-26 degrees, highs 33-36degree Celsius; wave height 1 metre.

 

Southern region (east coast): Cloudy with thunder showers and partly heavy rains in 60 per cent of the area; lows of 23-25degrees, high 31-33 degrees Celsius; wave height 1-2 metres, increasing to 2 metres during storms.

 

Southern region (west coast): Cloudy with thunder showers and partly heavy rains in 40 per cent of the area; lows 22-24 degrees, highs 32-35 degree Celsius; wave height 1metre, increasing to 1-2 metres during storms.

 

Bangkok and surrounding area: Partly cloudy with thunder showers in 30 per cent of the area, lows 25-26 degrees, highs 34-37 degrees Celsius.

Ummm ... speaking of not reading .. this is why they are called "forecasts"

And according to their synoptic chart moving at 10 knots an hour. A lot can happen between now and when/if it reaches Thailand.

It is official ... we have reached "Peak Whining" .. there is literally NOTHING a TV poster can not cry about.  Amazing!
