A couple posters here of questionable intelligence.

If you don't care, how about then it prices for EVERY ITEM in Thailand were 600% more expensive for you?

And to those of you saying it's OK because Thais pay taxes, what about expats who pay taxes? Are they not then also shareholders?

Lots of idiotic arguments.

Expand

At the risk of stating the obvious, if 600% was for everything, Thailand would not have a tourist industry or long-term stayers. If my auntie had balls, she'd be my uncle.

I just pick and choose, walk away if it doesn't look like good value.

They got smart phones and mobile internet for that.

Besides I thought the status of a foreigner on the pink card was the same as that of illegal immigrant? Cannot have riff raff not paying their way now. I prefer not to be associated with illegals so avoid the pink cards and the dual pricers since before the advent of the social media.

Do you realise that people with Permanent Resident status also get issued a Pink card, maybe you could look at a pink card as being associated with Permanent Residents.

That's why I walk away if I think the "premium" is too high, although I prefer to call it price gouging.

Permit me to doubt the vast majority of rural Thais fund national parks. How would they do that, when they don't have income tax?

Expand

Land tax is quite high.

We were just in Yosemite two months ago. THAT is a national park. It costs $30 per vehicle. They didn’t care what color we were or where we came from, $30 for the entire car. There were 4 of us and it cost LESS to enter one of the worlds greatest parks than it does to enter Doi Inthanon.

Expand

We were at the Grossglockner park very high in the mountains in Austria this year, 36 euro for a car but if you see what they had to build for that high in the mountains it's sure worth the money.....

I was back in Australia last Xmas with Thai wife. We went for a day out to Australia Zoo (Steve Irwin). I presented my local Australian license and got the local discount , my Thai wife paid the full price.

After that episode, Thai wife no longer lets me complain about any dual pricing.

Expand

Thanks for telling us, i won't go there for sure. in my country everybody pays the same.

Do you and does the average FL resident systematically evade taxes?

Do you and does the average FL government and park administration systematically misappropriate tax monies intended for the public benefit?

Our government officials are too busy counting votes and missing chads to misappropriated monies intended for the public benefit.

But Thai is a "local" discount....a fellow Aussie from a different area  would have to pay the full price...totally different scenario

Regional differences ... In 2013 the two national parks near us had signs up clearly stating 'Thai ID card' only for the lower price.

For the ticket sellers, and remember it's not their decision, would have made their job easier. No foreigners waving driver licences (never understood that argument, it's a driver licence, nothing more) or work permits

We still go often to Namtok Phliu, 200 b (for me) is a bargain for all the place offers, great for our family day out.

Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia also have similar reduced prices for locals, we travel often and don't complain about their price structures.

Love it...tourists like you are always warmly welcome in what every country you visit...:welcomeani:

So many free places that it's not really necassary to pay anything at all. The places I have paid to enter were no better than the free places , just better known.

You would not have got the "local" discount if you were not a resident of the local area.

You would also have only a "State" license not an Australian one-and i doubt very much that the Zoo offers discounts to every driver in the state.-let alone to every citizen of Australia.

As ,according to you,Thailand does for its citizens.

Never mind-i always enjoy your mythical journeys to Australia and your inane beliefs that every Australian citizen somehow gets a discount in line with your chronic Stockholm syndronism as it applies to Thailand.

Here are the admission prices...

Regional rules are the norm in LOS.  So are two week law changes; (then back to "as you were.")   This nonsense gets boring.

"Um .  Got boring for me.!!"

Not sure that I said any of that, I specifically said (twice) a local discount, i didnt mention a state based discount or a resident of Australia discount, nor did I mention "according to me" anything about Thais getting a discount.

Well..don't you and sundry other Thai apologists who always post on these type of threads claim that every Thai citizen somehow gets a "discount" in LOS?

I noticed that this argument started to crop up about two years ago to deny the very obvious fact that every "alien" in Thailand,in fact, gets a surcharge.

So..the Steve Irwin Zoo is a privately run business-not a national park and appears to offer discounts only to pensioners.

There is no evidence to suggest that they are employing dual pricing-as you can see from the list.

Yes, I get it. It's a very selfish way of dealing with the world.

Not caring because it doesn't impact you/me.

" First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—

Because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me."

Eventually the Thais will come for each farang who thinks he is OK because a particular wrong doesn't impact him. It's only a matter of time.

I am selfish because I choose how I spend my money? Who died and gifted you the ability to pass judgement on everyone?
