Depends on engine idle speed since the clutch mechanism is a fluid coupling.

Unless you live in a city and spend hours in traffic jams , can't see the attraction of automatics unless you are very short or something wrong with your legs.

But if you live in London 500 metres from your child's school you must have a 3 litre (minimum) 4WD all fully automatic 8 speed 7 seat prestige SUV to make sure he/she gets there safely.

Don'tcha know.

And this traffic, is it found mostly in the cities or rural areas.

 

As I said , if you have chosen to live and work in a city an automatic makes some sense. But a bulk of Thailand's population lives in rural areas where there are very few traffic jams and an automatic is not necessary.
