Depends on engine idle speed since the clutch mechanism is a fluid coupling.

  • actually autos normally have  4, 6 or 8 gears, plus reverse.  My auto car has 6, my last car, also auto, had 8.

But if you live in London 500 metres from your child's school you must have a 3 litre (minimum) 4WD all fully automatic 8 speed 7 seat prestige SUV to make sure he/she gets there safely.

And this traffic, is it found mostly in the cities or rural areas.

 

As I said , if you have chosen to live and work in a city an automatic makes some sense. But a bulk of Thailand's population lives in rural areas where there are very few traffic jams and an automatic is not necessary.
