Unless you claim it seems

Well, you aren't going to get the no claim discount the next year, that is certain.  The entire business model for insurance is to collect premiums and avoid payouts..like that everywhere.  I don't think 10 million people in the UK get private insurance because socialized medicine is the answer.

I've read posts where people were saying if you claim too many times the premiums will shoot up, so one particular person stopped claiming and paid themselves. So maybe use the insurance for big value claims only

Yes, I understand they can raise premiums as much as 25% if one has a large claim.  One reason I chose a deductible and a certain level of self insurance.  I think one would find the same issue with almost any carrier, no?  I forgot to mention about the 10% reduction in premiums if you have no claims in the first year, 15% for second year, 20% for third year.  So if a small claim amount to less than 10% of the premium expected in the next year, best to suck it up and pay it yourself.

Same for thai insurers it seems that's why many opt for farang insurance which aren't allowed to increase premiums due to claim history

Why did you have an old departure card in your passport? Immigration is supposed to take it when you're leaving the country, and you'll get a new when entering.

I have the new one, un-stapled and I have the old one stapled.  I guess when you sit in one place all day stamping, mistakes can be made.

I wouldn't toss that old one.  They might ask you for it the next time you try to leave Thailand.

From 66 years of age,the price goes up a lot. But I don't understand why go for an insurance that covers 3 million baht.

I therefore look forward to hearing from you and @LivinL0S as to how the 2013 Directive relating to the maximum Embassy income confirmation validity period can be explained away, then. Below is the 2013 thread on this particular issue which I have now succeeded in unearthing:-

Income letters they no longer issue ??

Whereas there does exist 1 first-hand report from someone who originally entered Thailand on an OA visa in 2006 and who has successfully applied for a retirement extension at Chaengwattana since 1st November without having to show proof of health insurance - see @Hayduke's posting at #2 on the following thread:-

This user has made many conflicting and therefore impossible claims.. Arrival dates, not matching claimed extensions, not matching claimed visa / extension status..

Unless he provides images of all stamps.. Hes trolling.

Picture of his O-A or it didn't happen. Lots of uninformed people don't realize they started with an O rather than an O-A and think all people in the retirement system are classified as O-A. People -- BE SKEPTICAL. Also keep in mind many people on retirement are extremely aged and have a hard time making these kinds of differentiations.

user hayduke has been shown to been making multiple opposite statements.. He seems to enjoy confusing the issues, even when educated on details (extension visa, re-entry etc) keeps making opposite statements.

especially since one is using a Government Hospital and the cost of an 80 year old Foreigner is the same as an 80 year old Thai.

Is it tho..

Thais go along to the 30 baht healthcare with legitimate issues, to get given a paracetemol and told to go away.. Thais who get cancer are referred away to specialists in other cities and die while waiting or trying to see them.. Theres even a clear distinction between the poor on national health and the government employees on national health..

Thais seem to tacitly accept this as the best they will get, would a farang go quietly into that good night as my wifes father did (went home didnt want anyone to spend on medicine, died at home) because they are poor or would they be kicking up a stink demanding they get treated because they paid 500b social security fee..

Actually all I have seen include an option for OPD but of course not limited to 40K and greatly increasing premiums, so  in a place like Thailand not worth it.

I have a policy with Cigna Close Care, Bht 120,000 for up to Bht 12M INPATIENT. I recently asked if they could re-allocated some of that to OUTPATIENT to satisfy Immigration.  Bht 58,500 to add Bht 125,000 worth of outpatient!!!!!!

Absolute rip-off. Needless to say I declined.

Yes addition of OPD cover typically costs 25 - 50% of the OPD cover. And no foreign policy gives as little as 40k. Which is why not worth doing as long as major outpatient costs (cancer treatment, dialysis, day surgery) is covered.

Wouldn't satisfy Imm anyhow. Foreign policy allowed only for issuance of new OA visa, first year.

Personal information is normally removed from forum - expect that may be the case and why you can not find.

TVF member @saiber posted 3 short comments that he has a 1 year travel-insurance policy with his German insurance-company Hanse Merkur, and that he asked them to fill in and sign the thai Certificate, which they did.

However, as far as I know, he did not post a scan of the thai certificate.
