I suggest wireless, either Canon or Epson that has refillable ink tanks.  HP printers have replaceable cartridges, which can be harder to find. They also will dry out the longer the printer is not used. To make them last longer, you can take cartridges out and seal them in plastic wrap. Whatever you buy make sure to keep the geckos and bugs out.

dON'T THINK SO.

If you don't need colour printing I would suggest a mono laser, particularly for only occasional use. They print first time, every time even after months of sitting idle. Not too expensive either.

Something like this https://www.invadeit.co.th/product/multi-function-printers/hewlett-packard-hp/laserjet-pro-mfp-m28w-printer-w2g55a-p043514/

We have one of these https://www.invadeit.co.th/product/multi-function-printers/canon/imageclass-mf635cx-color-multi-function-printer-with-duplex-lan-wifi-p033987/ Colour, 15k Baht, probably way too much for your use.

The only issue I've had with any of my lasers (I gave up on inkjets long ago) was a print of a 2-dimensional gekko one time, he was evidently too slow when the printer started and went through the fuser ???? It took a few prints before he was completely gone from the prints.

My Canon with tanks is in the bin, tanks still use cartridges that clog/dry up if it is not used much, I got fed up paying the shop t fix it..

Cheers Crossy. Tbh though I wasn't really looking to spend 5800 on one, can't you just buy basic printers now for around 2k? I would literally use it around 5 times a year or so.

A simple mono laser can be had for under 2k Baht https://www.invadeit.co.th/product/laser-printers/brother/hl-1110-compact-mono-laser-printer-p015914/

If you want a scanner too then the price rises of course https://www.invadeit.co.th/product/multi-function-printers/brother/dcp-1510-compact-multifunction-mono-laser-printer-print-scan-copy-p015913/

With such a low usage rate you'll spend more time unblocking a cheap inkjet than you will actually using it. Isn't there a business nearby who will print/scan stuff for you at nominal cost?

This is why I haven't got one these days maybe more hassle than it's worth. Yes always an internet shop somewhere but would be nice to have one at home though.

You def think the inkjet will get blocked up?

I bought a Fuji-Xerox lazer printer/copier at IT City several years ago and it's been great.  It was the least expensive lazer printer/copier they had on special at B2000 including a toner cartridge.

It has never failed me though like the OP,  I don't use it very often. Not having to worry about dried-out ink cartridges is so nice.  My only regret is not paying a bit more and getting the wifi model...well worth it.

My model is no longer being sold but I see several Fuji-Xerox models on Lazada in the OP's price range.

Read specs carefully.  Some are printers only, no copy function which I find very useful to have.

If it's a HP laptop, it would make sense to me to buy a HP printer as well, to minimize any software compatibility issues.

What printer would work with Acer or Asus? Printer manufacturers software is designed to be compatible to the computers operating system, not the computers brand.

Valid point. Try mating up a Brother printer with a Linux OS, and you'll soon find out about incompatibility.

Assuming he uses Windows then Brother is a fine solution.

I use a Brother HL-1210W, which uses a wifi connection, so no problems with cables. It cost about 2500 Baht and refill cartridges about 1000 Baht. They claim each cartridge can print about 1000 pages, so that's 1 baht per copy. I haven't counted but I notice that I used more than one ream of paper.

Hello Khon Kaen Jeff,

Finally, did you find the printer that suited you?
My EPSON ME 340 dropped me after almost 7 years of good and loyal service, a few months ago.
If I appreciated it for its multi-function, access to the cartridges was not easy. And that is an important point.
If you can tell me more. Thank you
