I know this is going to sound trite but I have never been interested in pornography. To me it removes the mysique and sexuality by making it so obvious. I went to an exhibition in Sydney several years ago and it had the theme of the body beautiful. Many of the photographs were in black and white, and there were quite a lot that had a similar amount of nakedness as the ones posted by Jet. It was interesting to me that in many of the photographs the model was not necesarily beautiful but had been transformed into something much more interestng

Many years ago I read an interview with a photographer who worked for for Hugh Hefner (Playboy) He said that to him the woman was much more beautiful until she became fully nud_e. He said that the competition between Playboy and Penthouse (the so called Pubic Wars) took all the sensuality out of the form and turned it into pornography which was one of Hefner's great hates. However Hefner decided to continue to compete to keep the magazine in circulation and in doing so it became a skin rag.

Interesting thread Jet. The debate about artful nudity has raged since ancient times. The images you posted were certainly arty and not at all pornagraphic. Pornograpy is never beautiful - these images are, even if they are not to everyone's taste.

As times change so do our impressions of what is art and what isn't, my worry with our modern society is that we become 'Desensitised' (spelling) and eventually 'anything goes'!

My original intent for opening this thread was to create a "hot bum" alternative for the women posters on TV. Sort of like DSK's eye candy thread with all those lovely paintings.

The human body, whether young and nubile, old and withered, sculpted by athletics or misshapened by nature or accident, is unique and beautiful. A good artist can convey this beauty. ie, I am more interested in a gnarled, scarred and arthritic body than by a young and pretty one, because the old one has lots of stories; the young one is just an empty canvas.
