webfact Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 Yaowarat Walking Street - paradise for street food lovers BANGKOK(NNT) - Yaowarat Road which hosts a variety of street food outlets has been turned into a walking street. CNN has ranked Thailand as the destination with the World’s Number One Street Food. Given the government policy to promote tourism, Yaowarat Road has become a walking street with street food available for visitors every evening, and during the night on weekends. Many Thais and foreigners come to the area to choose from a variety of food including Thai, Chinese and European food. The walking street starts at Chalermburi intersection and Soi Plaeng Nam and continues to Ratchawong intersection, covering a 600-meter distance lined with nearly 200 famous restaurants. Most visitors are Chinese in large or small groups. Some order food to take away, while others take a table in a restaurant and eat it there. There is normally a choice of seats and tables inside the restaurant or on the pavement. The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s municipal officials ensure convenience for the people, undertake patrols to maintain public order along the walking street and issue a warning to any restaurant which might have violated the rules. Barricades and traffic cones are used to reserve a path on either side of the road to safeguard pedestrians who are giving orders for food or waiting for it, midst the traffic of passing vehicles. Yaowarat Road Walking Street opens on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The road is closed to vehicles from 7.00 p.m. to midnight on Sundays. Elsewhere, Silom Road Walking Street opens on the third Sunday of each month from noon to 10.00 p.m., beginning December 15, and Khaosan Road Walking Street opens on Mondays from 4.00 p.m. to midnight, beginning December 16. -- © Copyright NNT 2019-12-16 Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking Thailand news and visa info 1
Hockeybik Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 Shouldn't a "walking street" be for walking and no driving? 2
jaiyen Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 And is the food here any better than anywhere else in Bangkok ? No ! So why all the fuss? Still eating food on a hot road next to traffic. Probably costs a lot more too 1 1

Popular Post Beggar Posted December 16, 2019 Popular Post Posted December 16, 2019 This is no Walking Street. A real Walking Street is full of noise, blinking lights, endless bars with ladies promoting something, ladyboys running around looking for friends, Chinese people following a flag, drunken tourists, guys promoting special sex shows and many other things and in addition completely without any prostitution. 2 1
RichardColeman Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 Sorry but i find it hard to translate eating in car fumes into any sort of paradise 1

RJRS1301 Posted December 17, 2019 Posted December 17, 2019 I wonder how long before diners are injured by either careless driver or motorcycle riders? We all know how drivers tend to get distracted and ignore rules and traffic calming devices

Number 6 Posted December 18, 2019 Posted December 18, 2019 Always take the parents in law to Texas suki. Especially after the subway station opened it's an absolute mess. Cars and motorbikes everywhere, jammed with tourists buying very overpriced food.
madmen Posted December 18, 2019 Posted December 18, 2019 Amazing TV Posters cried when they shutdown vendors all over bangkok and now they bring them back in designated areas the same posters crying car fumes! Is there a diploma for stupidity? 1
