Pattaya: New bar area is not "Naan plaza!" Group insists it's not just for Indians and claim project will lower bar prices

 

 

The Indian led group that plans to turn a Pattaya mall into the latest area for Go Go bars and night time entertainment have hit back at suggestions "Avenue Plaza" is just for Indians. 

 

Many members of the online community had mistakenly assumed that the project - modeled on Bangkok's famous Nana Plaza - might be nicknamed "Naan Plaza" instead.  

 

They feared it would just be for the increasing number of visitors from the sub-continent when it opens for business next year.

 

The Baku group has said that is not true. They claim that cheaper rents will mean the project will lower beer and alcoholic drinks prices for customers. 

 

Contracts have been signed with City Hall and Bang Lamung district. Some businesses such as McDonald's and Villa market will stay.

 

And fears that noise from the complex will annoy residents in the area are unfounded, they have said. 

 

Social media representative for Baku Scott Griffiths clarified the Avenue Plaza project with Thaivisa yesterday. 

 

"The venue is not an entertainment complex for Indians," said Mr Griffiths. "It will be open to all nationalities just like Walking Street and LK Metro.

 

"At present the project has been granted by City Hall and Bang Lamung licensing (departments) and contracts have been signed.

 

"Architects have been appointed and will shortly be marking out all the plots".

 

He said that a building and bar fitting company from Bangkok has been appointed and are ready to start construction in the New Year.

 

It was earlier reported that the owner of Baku planned to hold a grand opening ceremony on 31st March 2020.

 

To date Baku group has 17 verbal agreements out of 39 plots. Some of these have come from "big players" in Walking Street and LK Metro, said Mr Griffiths who told us there was a positive reaction and a lot of interest. 

 

In addition to the Go Go bars two clubs are planned. 

 

He said that the group had negotiated low rentals without key money meaning that in many instances rents will be 50% of costs in Walking Street. 

 

"We hope that these savings will be passed down to the customer resulting in lower alcohol prices and a better experience for the end user.

 

"There are a lot of doom and gloom merchants regarding the direction Pattaya has gone. However the city will always have a night life, the scene will change and it will be the survival of the fittest.

 

"There is and will be a further cull of bars and something has to change and we believe that the first thing that needs to be done is a reduction in prices across the bar scene which we will strive to do".

 

At present Baku Group runs Baku lounge, Baku 6, Y Bar, Bachelor's A Go Go, The Roof, 15th Avenue and Sensations Bar. 

 

The group runs other businesses such as a golf center and guesthouses. Investment comes from two men based in India. (Prospective customers can contact Sean on 063 845 0903).

 

Certain businesses are staying at The Avenue when it becomes Avenue Plaza. They include McDonald's, Starbucks, Villa Market, Robin Hood, Fitness 7 the cinema and bowling. 

 

The passport office will relocate to the top floor.

 

Some posters especially on Thaivisa were concerned about noise from the complex.

 

Mr Griffiths said: "We don't see noise being an issue due to it being contained within the bars".

All bars and girly entertainment venues are as good and successful as the quality of the lassas and hostess working there, the prettier and younger they are the better the business is, alchole will pull certian numbers in but the bigger money earner are the girls...

Rents are lower that is a smart thing for Buka to drawn them in but guarantee don't expect anything else to be lower coming from the future businesses.

There has been a change of plan. And more power to them. The more non family venues the better and hopefully displace this family stuff and do the families a favor because the sure don't look like happy campers anyway. And I don't buy this idea that the Beach girls are going to be displaced because of this venue. Apples and oranges.

I was wondering how this would fit in with the Pattaya family centric idea until I realised that it is indeed a family place. Kids can go to the cinema while mum does the shopping and banking, while dad can slope away for a cheap beer and some nooky.

Take the kids and drop them off at rotten Ronnies.  Dad goes to bar gets a couple of beer and a BL or quickie then picks of the quart of milk at Villa the kids and goes home

There's an Indian Go-Go bar near two Quiz venues. Every time a customer goes in ears start to bleed.  I'm curious but no way am I going to suffer that din.

To be serious for a moment I found that a big problem in Go Go bars I discovered in Pattaya was to locate the toilets.
