Actually slightly incorrect, if you really want to get that pedantic, Farang is Westerner, so technically Australians are also not farangs, nor are Russians;)

Sorry but not exact

not want to be pedantic, i just try to use the good word at the good place

Farang (Thai: ฝรั่ง, [faràŋ], colloquially [falàŋ]) is a generic Thai word for person of white race no matter where they may come from; the Americas, Europe, etc. The term is also used for white Latin Americans and light skinned Latinos. Not all Latinos however, brown skinned Latin-Americans are often confused with Arabs in Thailand, and thus, not Farang. The Royal Institute Dictionary 1999, the official dictionary of Thai words, defines the word as "a person of white race".[1]

Not too sure why you want to get into it, but farang originated from the french, ie referring to Europeans,

In the Middle East, South Asia and Southeast Asia "Farang" refers to Europeans. This in turn comes from the Old French word franc, meaning "Frank", a West Germanic tribe that became a major political power in Western and Central Europe during the early Middle Ages, and from which France derives its name.

You can stop the private bickering fest now or I will step in and stop it for you

Ok, so back on topic.

Let's say Mr. Baku puts on a good show with this new development.

Location is great.  No doubt about that.

If cheaper rents are offered, and existing businesses are enticed into this new bar complex, does that not cause closed down businesses elsewhere, or do people believe the complex will attract new businesses, in an already saturated market, with declining clientele?

Aren't you whinging about the people who whinge about a 5 baht rise?  ????

It's a tough business.  That 5 baht rise from 60 baht to 65 baht a beer could see all your customers move to your competitor, who is still offering 60 baht beers.  ????

It's tough doing business in a place where it's a race to the bottom.

I retired, I no longer wish to be a worker, sponsor, nor investor in some over-filled market.

Is it something to brag about? But my particular aversion is where a guy sponsors his partner in a business venture. So often he might as well just chuck the money off Buddha mountain.

There's no customer loyalty here.  Do you agree, or not?

The bars that open with high concepts are funny. Most guys just care about the goods on offer.

I'd be happy with the concrete table out front of my local 7/11 if it had a chrome pole in the middle and the cute sexy cashiers came out to earn some extra lunch money !!

Well I went to the Avenue yesterday (ok it was a Sunday) and saw no sign of any works in progress..they'll have to work quick to open on time.

Agree entirely. Only the terminally dim witted are oblivious to the outcome and the scam thats transpiring

They can’t get talent in most places at the moment. Add all these bars???

they also said they HOPE the low rent will bring down prices

good luck, but without talent, it’s doomed

period!

There is lots of talent all over the place,  you seem a very negative person in your posts.  Maybe you need to get out and look more.  Make an effort.
