PHUKET: Phuket City Municipality is urging people to keep containers of spare water to use in case their mains water supply is reduced to drips or fails entirely as water-saving measures are rolled out across Phuket Town.

Mains water pressure has been reduced in order to conserve as much water as possible as the island’s water reserves are running low, the announcement explained.

“Phuket is now facing the annual dry season, from January to May, and there are only a small amount of water in the main sources,” the announcement said.

Just got an additional 2,000 liter tank installed yesterday. Thats 4,000 liter total capacity now.

Just hoping i will notice it when the water supply dries up so we dont wash the car or water the lawn on our last 1,000 liters of water.

So obviously the government is unable to take proactive measures despite knowing the dry season cycle and limited water storage.

Basically the message to the public is - Save Yourselves!

And what about the thousands of tourists? Rationed to one two minute shower a day? Use bottled water for cleaning teeth? Change bedlinen and towels once a fortnight? Ban them from washing their smalls in the hotel sink?

With all the development this is only going to get worse....though perhaps the curtailment of the Chinese tour groups due to coronavirus might help!

Only hope people keep their stored water covered or there will be a lot more mosquito factories around.

I was coming out of Immigration yesterday and two Army water trucks rolled past headed west on Saphan Hin Road.

But why?? there is NO WATER SHORTAGE on Phuket island... stated only yesterday from the ain man!!
