The hut ????

Featured Replies

So back to our little hut in Chaiyaphum, we intend to spend more time there now so a few basic improvements required...

1) Need to lay a concrete slab underneath and also one next to it for a carport/raised deck. What thickness slab for under the hut, as it won't be weight bearing ??

2) Shower and toilet next to the hut. We have water supply now, so thinking about open air design as we have no neighbors

3) Bricking out under the hut to create lockable storage to leave not so valuable stuff when we are not there

4) Basic solar set up to power lights and charging of tool batteries and phones etc

100mm of concrete with  100mm x 5mm diameter mesh reinforcement should do you for both pads if the ground is well compacted. Strip off the topsoil of course.

Personally, for the car port I wouldn't bother with a pad, just drop some gravel / laterite for a hardstanding and add a simple roof.

????If you put a concrete structure on the back, even if only up to the first floor, you would have ensuite plus locable storage below.

The walls of the 1st fllor ensuite could be very basic as you have no neighbours.

I like that idea... Kinda 1st level alfresco bathroom ???? Like you say, some simple bamboo walls would do the job...

I had such an arrangement when I rented a beach hut on Koh Samui many years ago. It's great showering in the open air.

Yup, about 2.1 cubes.

If going the readymix route you need to be FULLY prepared before the delivery, all groundwork, shuttering and mesh in place ready to go.

You will also need labour that knows what they are doing, this is not a solo job.

It may be best to employ a local contractor to provide everything.
