Have you travelled to these other countries? They are just as bad for charging foreigners more, even semi-developed Malaysia. I was in Penang for two months and witnessed countless government attractions which had discounts for Malays. It was so bad that I ended up boycotting anything that charged extra because I am not Malaysian. I was also taken to the local market by my guesthouse owner. Realised I had been paying 3x more than locals for basics! It's the same all over Asia. Get out while you can or before the state sponsored Chinese flu gets ya!! MFA will profit from that (Yes, they also need Mercs, Bimmers, Rolls and Bentleys...) Or what about an "Immigration Service Fee" (of course waived for citizens of India and China) payable at the point of entry? What about charging 5% commission when changing cash? You are all over the internet on TVF complaining vociferously about everything Thai and then complain even more when the Thai tourism industry/immigration doesn't like you. Simply. Popular Post sup3r1or
Wait a second, they gave a green light to hospitals to charge foreigners more for the same kind of care as everyone else, every attraction already has dual pricing and national parks all charge triple. So now they want more? 2

Popular Post TechnikaIII
When I took a Thai friend with me to a couple of temples, she laughed when I paid and she went in free, and another place (ages ago, not a temple) .. she laughed again, because her ticket was 50 Baht, while mine was 150 Baht) And the tuktuks all screw us, charging us more .. So if there is to be a maintenance fee for tourists/foreigners, and the temples should be the beneficiaries, so we can just pay once when we enter the country. By the way, with all the money that the temples receive, why are so many so filthy and untidy? .. with lounging monks doing nothing all day? (I'm not criticising, just asking.)
Isaan sailor
So is Thailand a Communist following country, or a capitalistic country? I don’t know, with the Baht so high—maybe they just don’t want us here anymore... 1
Popular Post Edheres
Seems like one or two of those Chinese-made submarines the the Thai Navy insists on would free up enough Baht to fix any number of domestic problems. Such a pity that the underseas threat will be the only thing preventing a seaborne invasion of the Kingdom. 3

Yeah it's a hate-hate relationship. Ai Farangs unfortunately remember how it was when going was still good and seeing the hapless usurpers throw it all down the drain with their lust for more Chinese is enough to make a white man angry. They don't like us when we're angry. The solution is simple: if you don't like it, go home. And remember to tell every living or dead thing not to go to Thailand. Spares them the grief. 3

At the risk of stating the obvious, they never did. It was our money that they wanted. I think the only peoples in the world that want others to come in are some almost extinct tribes in desperate need of enriching their gene pool. Others will meet you with swords and spears, unless you come carrying gifts. 3

Redline
Looks like under the table money is drying up. One sure way to get rid of tourists is price them out. They do realize that Thailand is not a high end destination?
WalkingOrders
Well, the result of charging tourists will be further decline in tourism. This will weaken the Thai baht. As I am not on a tourist visa, seldom leave the country, and have USD deposited monthly into a Thai baht account, I whole heartedly applaud the idea.
