British man, 70, rescued by Thai navy after three days adrift off Phuket

Featured Replies

There have been easterly winds up to 20-25 knots for a couple weeks straight now.  Wind does ease up in the afternoon, then comes on strong again.

Yes, one ever gets to know, what was going on in the cabin down below ( for 3 days ) ...

In his cabin?

I was not there!

I am not a navy person. But if the engine fails, the sails don't work? Am I missing something?

I'm not a "navy person" either, but it doesn't take a genius to know that sailboats are at the mercy of wind direction and strength - that's why they DUH! have engines as backup. If winds are not favorable you won't get where you wanna go. I can't believe how many people here are so stupid as to not know that most basic and common sense fact.

LOL. Pathetic troll attempt.

FYI... sail boats do a thing called “tacking” to get to ANYWHERE they want to go in unfavourable winds.

This Boat dont look like ready for sailing.

Why. Has fore and main sail ready. But can't see a mizzen sail. Looks like your typical live aboard day to day condition.

Sailboat 'breaking down' ??????

Could have been something in rigging broken? Lack of wind and engine failure? In any event I am sure it was not an imaginary issue.
