Resetting my old iPhone password

Featured Replies

I had an absolute disaster which I won't bore you with.

But basically I managed to get Apple to send a 6 digit code my my moms phone then had to verify my credit card details.

Apple now say they will text my mums phone in 3 days with steps I have to follow to reset my password.

I would just like to know what those steps are if anyone knows.

Obviously the steps will be on here phone, but I'll want to reset my iphone password.

Thanks!

Wow. Apple responding that they will send a text message in 3 days!! Reset password text are usually instant

And you gave them your credit card details? Why?

How sure are you that you spoke to a Apple Rep??

Ps: Contact your bank and let them closely watch your credit card expenses.

No, it definitely says 3 days everywhere on Apple to reset passwords.

And I guess the card information was part of what they'll use to verify my request. I didn't give it to a person. I typed it on my computer like you'd add on the app store and they don't have any more or less access than that.

I just wanted to know what steps I'll need to take to add new password ie maybe they will send a 6 digit code to the new (up-to-date) phone number I had to give them.

I guess I will find out in 3 days.

Sure, I will.

But little hint now: don't set 2-factor authentication unless you definitely know the phone number you're setting it for. Write it down in Drop or Google Drive.

They put in a SIM card when I bought my iPhone so I didn't even know it. It took a terrible amount of time to track it down.

And don't loose the passwords for that.

Do you know what my last resort is?

Open the safe, open the envelope with the printout of all important (access) data.

For every day purpose I use an encrypted archive (VeraCrypt) as password safe.

For that I have a 16 character PW that I will simply not forget.

Yes I know 16 characters is a bit weak. I think about it.

(and don't ask me where the wheel numbers and key for the safe are )

Better to be safe than sorry.

I will check out VeraCrypt.

I'm not sure but here is no info about credit card details https://support.apple.com/en-in/HT201487

If I've had enough time I'd ask a question about password recovery on their community forum https://discussions.apple.com/welcome

Oops, I can't even sign in to ask a question lol

Tbh I just think they will take 3 days to verify my data then send new 6 digit verification code to new active phone number I gave them.

I hope anyway.
