Ambulance driver's message to motorcyclist: How do you feel now that she died?

An ambulance driver in the north east of Thailand had a message for a motorcyclist who thought it was funny to block his vehicle's progress to hospital.

How do you feel now?

For two kilometers along the Friendship highway heading to downtown Nong Khai the motorcyclist had blocked the way of the ambulance.

Driver Anuchai said he had his sirens wailing and lights flashing.

But that didn't deter the idiot on two wheels.

Finally the 75 year old woman clinging to life in the ambulance was pronounced dead.

She was a bedridden patient needing urgent treatment after being picked up from her home.

The ambulance driver had gone online to vent his frustration about the incident and was later contacted by Channel 7.

But that didn't deter the idiot on two wheels.      They should chain his bicycle rims around his neck and let him work at the Emergency of the local hospital for one year on each weekend.

It wouldn’t be so funny if it was his Yai in the back. Sadly a lot of people can only think for themselves in this world

While this act of blocking an ambulance is despicable there are a few take away points from this article:

- The road looks clear - the Ambulance could have simply ‘undertaken’ the motorcycle (if the photo in the article is taken from a dash-cam of the actual event).

- It seems the patient was in critical condition, would a couple of minutes made any difference? if so, why didn’t the ambulance driver ‘undertake’ the motorcyclist instead of remaining behind him and later protesting?

Giving way to ambulances is something which needs greater attention in Thailand, but in this case I suspect the ambulance driver was making a point when he could have undertaken and perhaps made a difference instead.

And yes, get the motorcyclists numberplate, locate him and hang him high...

Do you really believe that this Psychopath has got a license?

His number plate is clearly recorded but any chance the cops will investigate?
Perhaps a name and shame on social media would get the better result

Well if PC plod can be bothered to look into this, it should be easy to get the bike reg from the video.

Haul his a++e into court, lock the selfish little bar steward up for a year or two.

How distressing for the poor ladies family to see that video.

O yeah. You have seen everything and know what should have been done. Excellent.

Good points, Ambulances are a relatively new addition to the roads in Thailand, will take a long time for folks here to get used to them.

Its disturbing that if you post something on social media that the masses don't agree with you are attacked! by the "lock em up" brigade who consider this totally unrealistic response appropriate. ????

Thai wooden top wannabee Valentino thinks his scooter becomes a superbike when his 125cc is blowing through a straight pipe and deafening everyone including himself ............. he can't hear anything

There won't be proper respect for ambulances until there are some rules and enforcement over when they can and cannot use their sirens.

Too many times I have followed an ambulance with lights flashing and sirens blaring for 10-20km passing multiple hospitals on the way. The behaviour of the foundation emergency vehicles don't help either.

I was wondering same. And because ambulance driver did know he has an critical patient abroad, why just overtake motorbike and drive close enough him, I think that'll change mind of the biker.

I really want to see video about this incident before I make any accusations.

well; considering that LOS does not have have that weird Euro/UK/US thing about the created  'undertaking' word...

 - all he had to do was 'Change Lanes' !

pity no video... as possibly they 'did' try lane changes, with the perp doing same for continual blocking?

Ah yes, the power needs of the Thai.

Blocking and slowing the recovery of someone injured or near death, just to get that power kick.

the AMB driver had plenty of room TO UNDERTAKE !!! which, by the way IS AN ILLEGAL ACT ....

But as this was an emergency then he SHOULD HAVE UNDERTAKEN...... jst as should any emergency vehicle....POLICE and FIRE ENGINES INCLUDED

I got now idea why they slow down for those brain dead ones?

Pedal to the metal, up and over...

HAVE you SEEN a video that SHOWS that the AMB was ABLE to overtake on the INSIDE and was NOT BLOCKED???

that 'undertake' thing only applies over in Euro/UK/US

In LOS as in Aust, it is simply changing lanes, and being faster than someone in a separate lane...

go read THAI DRIVING LAWS,......google it

Did they not pass legislation or create a law whereby the folks who became self appointed road monitors and did not move out of the way would be fined and prosecuted, or am I missing something here.  No reason you should have to undertake or overtake a vehicle of any type, they should yield to all emergency vehicles......however, stupidity and a careless attitude reign proudly here....

Yeah, maybe, then maybe not. Unfortunately they give them away like candy.

there are often misinterpretations of the written thai to english translation:

"Overtaking on the pavement is illegal"

 -   personal interpretations have extrapolated the thinking it meant 'everything' to the left ????

There is NO misinterpretation in this particular situation

Section 45 (400-1000B)
[No driver shall overtake another vehicle from the left-side unless:
a. the vehicle to be overtaken is making a right turn or has given a signal that he is going to make a right turn
b. the roadway is arranged with two or more traffic lanes in the same direction.]

that is right!

 - there were at least two lanes in each direction in this story

the upper basic part is directing  attention to Single lane roads; trying to prevent pedestrian pavement encroachment.

So the motorcycle rider should be fined, if it can be proven he failed to abide by law to an emergency vehicle.......
