Before I go and mess with my new phones settings can any one please advise me

Featured Replies

I have purchased a Xiaomi Redmi 5A mobile phone running Android 8.1.0
the phone has 2 SIM slots and a WiFi HotSpot option.

I have 2 SIM cards in the phone.

1. SIM A that I want to use for making phone calls
2. SIM B that has an internet connection package on it ( 10Mbps unlimited 6 months duration )

I want to set up the phone so I can make phone calls ‘’ only ‘’ using SIM A.

I want to set up ‘’ only’’  SIM B to connect to the internet package so I can
watch the YouTube app I have already installed on the phone.

I want to occasionally activate the WiFi HotSpot option on the phone ‘’ only ‘’ using SIM B.

So only making / receiving telephone calls from the phone = SIM A
So things on the phone needing an internet connection +  WiFi HotSpot = SIM B

Before I go and mess with my new phones settings can any one please advise me
if the above is possible ? . And hopefully point me in the right direction for the correct
settings.

Many Thanks - Tom

I have the Apple iPhone XR with duel sim one's Esim which is software and a physical sim, while in BKK I had a Thai sim in the phone, I know that some brands of phone allow you to be using one sim and receive on the other, not sure if iPhone would do that or even yours, but from my experience I had to toggle between the sims to use them, I did not receive any messages or calls over 3 months from my Aussie sim while using True there.

With the iPhone I had to nominate my primary line and thats the one that was connected....im guessing you will begin the same boat...

I think it would be possible.  Different phones but looking at my settings under "Dual Sim" I'd set "Default calling Sim" to A and "Default Mobile Data" to B.

Wifi hotspot doesn't relate to a SIM, well, because it uses Wifi not mobile data.  If you meant tethering another device to use the phone data, it'll do it on B because of the setting already done above.

Just set Cellular Data Card 2

Calls Card 1

Yes, its easily done. Both SIMs need turning on in the Android settings, so they would both be capable of cellular calls but you choose SIM A each time. Only one can be used for data - so you set it as SIM B.
