Makro reserves two hours for elderly and those with special needs

Makro store has reserved two hours on all days -- from 6am to 8am -- for the elderly and those with special needs due to the current Covid-19 situation. It has also adjusted the opening and closing hours for general customers from 8am to 8pm.

 

 

Siriporn Dejsing, deputy chief executive officer, said customers now realised the importance of safe distance so they avoided crowded times and tended to buy in bulk to avoid leaving their homes often.

 

Makro's decision to reserve special hours for the elderly (60-plus) and those with special needs is aimed at reducing the infection risk for these groups from April 1 until the virus situation is resolved.

I think its a good move to keep the elderly away from any potentially infected people, as we all know the elderly are at a high risk of contracting it.

I know back in my homeland, stores have already started this about a week or two ago, because the elderly had no chance with all the hoarders, selfish p-r-i-c-k-s

I only really go to Makro for bulk booze, so unless they take the Chonburi governor at his word when he said he was limiting alcohol sales to 6:00 AM until 6:00 PM, then this isn't much use to me.

Latest available times are 11.00 to 14.00 and 17.00 to 18.00, if I remember correctly.

a bit like in europe ... 5-10 parking spaces for handicapped people and they stay open most of the time

Reminds me of the time I purchased a ticket for something in Singapore at the old persons rate, I asked them if they needed ID, their answer of "that won't be neccessary sir" quite upset me.

A mate, who has sadly now left us, had the opposite "problem" in the UK. A museum offered his (40+  year old) Thai wife "student" rate, being an honest chap he did insist on paying regular "adult" rate.

Average life expectancy in Thailand seems to be 75.30 years, so 57 would be nearly at death's gates then.
