I wonder how long did it take for you to get married with your Thai girlfriend. 

Also mention her age, and if she has kids or she was married before.....

 

I have been together with my girl now for few months and she is not ready at all....the problem is that if we get married we could be together all the time and not only few months per year...

Wife and I knew each other right around 18 months before we got married. We took about 3 months just getting to know each other. We dated for 2 months, then had a relationship for 13 months before getting married. She was 35 when we met, never married and no kids. 

I met my wife at a party in Germany. She got the flight to her best friend as a gift for her 30th birthday. Never married before and no kids. After many emails and messages and 2 more visits (she paid one flight, I paid the other one) we married 2 years later. After that I traveled the first time in my life to Thailand. Now we are married since 14 years.

 

In would never ever marry a girl after a couple of months. Neither a western girl nor a Thai girl. In Germany the people usually meet, becoming a couple, start living in one home and minimum 2 years later they think about to marry. I have no idea why men marry Thai women after a few months. 

I've been deftly avoiding that conversation for six years now.

Almost 3 years. Still not married. maybe in 5 years. We broke up for 6 months before thought 

I met my wife on the internet (thaifriendly) - 35 year old school teacher from up north in Nan, not bar girl. she had been married before, 2 daughters and abusive ex husband.

 

After a month i flew out to see her - married her 14 days later.

 

together now 5 years, 1 daughter.

 

if its right its right - time matters little. never met a more perfect person for me in every way. great, mom great cook, never asked for a penny, she knows we are not rich and is just content with life

This is a great topic.  You hear so many horror stories, especially on YouTube of guys taken to the cleaners once married to a Thai girl.  Let's hear more positive stories and the details behind those relationships.  Maybe the few bad outcomes get a disproportionate amount of press and attention.   I wonder the same thing as the original poster.  

I don't recall exactly when I met my future wife, but I think it was the start of Khao Phansa, July 1977.  She was in the market in Loei selling clothing with her sister.  Soon hired her to do my laundry as it wouldn't dry in the rainy season if I did it.  We married Oct 7, 1978, so perhaps 15 months.  It was then or never as my Peace Corps tour ended in March 1979. (We did hang around for another year or so as I got a job interviewing Lao and Khmer refugees for resettlement in the U.S.)

 

She didn't speak English at the time, though she knew a few words.  We got along fine just as friends.  Now after 42 years, her English is way better than my Thai.  And she's a worth adversary. 

 

Oh, she was never married and we were young.  I was 25, she was a couple years younger. Lovely couple.  Then and now:

Two years and I would advise waiting at least that long. I felt compelled to marry her. This is not the west I felt it was important to have an official marriage for her sake really. Also to give her a secure feeling.

 

She 33 me 49 at the time.

 

Both never married, no children.

 

She's been great. Ten years now.

Been with my girlfriend 6 years, have 2 kids. Was supposed to be getting married this year, but it looks like thats out of the window for now.

Im 34 she is 28.

4 years

12 yrs. and conversation of marriage comes up now and again.

1 year see was 40 and me 60.  Best thing I done was taking her to Australia for a few years. We married in Australia 

It helped her English a lot and understand what she was in for being married to an Aussie.

She liked Australia and would have been happy to stay, I was the one who pushed to retire in Thailand.

She had a son from a her marriage to first thai boyfriend. 

He stayed in Australia and is an Australian citizen if whom I and very proud of and whom I love like my own son.

If I could wind back clock would have stayed Aust till she had citizenship.

10 years together been best part of my life

When we met she was 23 and I was 43.  We got married two years later.  First and only marriage for both of us.  We are now 45 and 65, no children, healthy, happy and still very much in love.????

Knew each other about 3 years and with first daughter 8 months we tied the knot 9 years ago now!!
