76 Thais return from Indonesia pilgrimage

Seventy-six Thais touched down at Songkhla’s Hat Yai International Airport on Monday evening after going on a "Dawah" (Muslim missionary) pilgrimage in Indonesia.

 

Songkhla Governor Jaruwat Kliangklao said the 76 and 35 crew who travelled on a Thai Lion Air flight have undergone standard screening procedures to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

 

 

“They were tested for symptoms and fever by officials wearing full protective suits, and the plane will be thoroughly disinfected,” he said. “No one has showed any Covid-19 symptoms or high fever in the preliminary screening.”

 

The passengers and crew were later transported to quarantine facilities in their hometowns – Songkhla (20 people), Yala (7), Pattani (14), Narathiwat (7) and Satun (26). The others, who hail from Chiang Mai and Bangkok, will be quarantined in Songkhla.

 

 

All returnees are staying in quarantine facilities for 14 days as required by the Public Health Ministry. If anyone displays any Covid-19 symptoms including pneumonia, they will be sent immediately to hospital for treatment.

Maybe religion should be quarantined as well.

Even in medieval times, during pandemics Muslems often ignored quarantine restrictions.  One of the tenants of Islam is "Ensha Allah". basically: "God's will."   If it's God's will you are going to get sick and die, then nothing you do will prevent it.  If thousands are dying in a city, then it must be God's punishment.

But does Ensha Allah pay his rent on time?

I thought there was a ban on all passenger arrivals?

It hasn't prevented the complete lock downs in Mecca and Medina, nor for KSA to cancel all Umra visas. I was quite surprised to read about that. 

 

It's about time the rest of the Islamic got the message.

No not so.Thai nationals are allowed to return home providing they comply with all the requirements, including quarantine.

Effective from today. These folks returned yesterday.

 

This also looks like it was an evacuation flight. The lies in the number of crew on board, 35! That was no commercial flight.

35 crew ? Service must have been good or Plenty of freeloaders here or staff taking the opportunity to get home ?

Well done, the Thai authorities. But isn't the real answer to temporarily close down all mosques, churches and temples on the grounds of public safety?

 

Leave the priests, monks and imams in situ to pray for themselves and the rest of us.

Nothing to see here, we all know that NO ONE on a Muslim pilgrimage gets close to anyone else.  They're clear, let them go.
