to be honest I just don't care anymore.

Anybody else feeling this way?

Sounds like "the Black Dog Blues"

I feel like a human guinea pig in a botched global human experiment.

You've been on here for just over 2 years. I started in 2006. That definitely puts you in the short time category. For the first 8 years or so there was no rating system on here and those first years were my most active by far.

It's easy enough to scrape up likes. You probably specialize in that. Get on thread early and post what you consider the popular opinion and then run around bragging about your likes.

Don't get likes and good content confused. Most of your content that I've bothered to read is nothing more than fluff.

Actually, I was here for longer with another identity. But don't let that get in the way of your claim to venerability, it's probably your only measure of self-worth.

Perhaps you can show me some other posts in my history which support your claim I run around bragging. I won't mind waiting.

I come in early or late on threads depending on what I am doing. I think you'll find there are some posters who don't like me or my opinions. Doesn't worry me, I give as good as I get.

Your stock in trade appears to be put-downs of other posters, or in other words, a troll. Perhaps you can point me towards a post of yours that has been helpful to anyone else. Again, I won't mind waiting.

Gee and you look down your nose at us druggies or is that look up at us from the gutter?Maybe you should get yourself off to the Indra cannabis shop and try a new perspective before you have to try out a new liver!Plus you must be slow because if I started drinking at 9:30 am I would be legless by 11:00 am unless I drink a schooner of water between each schooner of beer which works wonders.

I do look down at drug addicts and pushers as most in society do and always have, however if you don't fit that category then it's irrelevant. As for the cannabis shop, I think i'll pass on that one. I can handle my beer as the secret to not getting legless too quickly is to pace yourself, so as to last the whole day or as long as possible. The water sounds a good idea although wouldn't one get bloated fairly quickly. cheers

Why?

I have always been taught from school days that drugs are wrong, and as such being a drug addict and/or pusher is wrong.

Drinking beer at home or with friends and enjoying beer on social outings is acceptable in any society, taking heroin, ice, yaba, meth or whatever is not.  Enough on that.

But being an alcoholic is OK?

Au contraire, you would find that taking cocaine for instance is usually done at parties, clubs etc, and even heroine junkies socialise with each other, no different than alcoholics.

Not in any society ... try the muslim societies .... however your failure to realise alchohol is just another drug is just amazing to me

A real shame everything we like is either illegal, immoral, or fattening.

the problem I have with the first two were the kinds of people that decided they were illegal and/or immoral

I've used the water method often and never had a hangover when I use it as it provides enough fluid around the brain to prevent the hangover it also helps the liver as it helps flush it out and the bloating doesn't really occur because the alcohol causes dehydration which is also the cause of the hangover if you give it a determined effort I guarantee you will see and appreciate the benefits.

Your welcome.

AFAIK alcohol-fuelled violence is far worse than any drug violence, with the exception of methamphetamine.

I did some searching on this a few months ago and it turned out the even meth has much less impact than alcohol it just got much more publicity for a while.

I get drunk in the afternoon, no hangover.

anyone managing to stay positive despite all the obvious signs of catastrophe on the horizon?

Sorry for derailing your thread.Sometimes I feel the presence of "Hell Hounds On My Trail" and as the lyrics in the song suggests "I got to keep moving, I got to keep moving".That can mean either or both mentally or physically.I'm lucky where I am like others I have not felt restricted in my movements or my daily routine. You are still allowed to go outside and go for a walk or run to the shops to buy food or exercise!Don't isolate, social distancing doesn't mean isolate.I refuse to be someones experiment in social distancing and lockdown based on this internet panicdemic without any verifiable evidence it works or that it's worth it.Like someone said on a video, before, the first we heard of a pandemic was when it was over.

that fact that I no longer care keeps me from exercising.

I see no point personally.

The world is about to go into total meltdown before the years out.

This goes way beyond covid-19. It's about humans and how their selfish ways have bestowed hell upon the planet and everybody else.

This "event" has been repeated over and over in the past.  Problem reaction solution, Rinse and repeat, sure change the plot but it's always the same old story, social change and or wealth distribution.  The silver lining?  These events are an opportunity to make alot of money.  Hint: the people with the knowledge of how to take advantage of these events don't watch TV or take any notice of the Main Stream Media, and I'm guessing your reading the wrong books.

You've been fooled by statistics. The US currently tests over 1 million people per week. Anyone can be tested, symptoms or not - in drive through testing centers - for free. With a population of over 320 million and testing that many, one would expect more infections to be detected than anywhere else in the world.

It would be impossible to determine which country has the most infections per capita unless every person is tested. The US might give other countries a clue as to how invasive this contagion really is.

IMO the raw numbers are sufficient cause for alarm.

From what I have heard, many of the testing kits are defective. Only about 30% accurate, on one news item I read. And what of people who are tested, then are infected in the next week or two?

Perhaps a "better" number would be the number of people either dead or in an ICU, because it is difficult to misunderstand that kind of statistic.

my apathy may eventually turn into nihilism

it's called depression... and really, it is understandable at this time... I have this feeling that the world will never be the same again. Others are more positive that there will be changes a-coming, - - for the good... I don't really see it.

I have lived in the moment for a long time now and the last 3 weeks have been grocery shopping and root canal as my only ventures outside...

BeltAndRoad - Nail on the head brother. Got Gold Silver and Bitcoin? Hope so as not going to be much left by the time they have finished. The OP points need no further examination as we are not supposed to be locked into open prisons such as this current paradigm.

If you have never watched V for Vendetta can I suggest you watch it. If you have seen it before can I suggest you watch it again as I didn't realise how perfectly it fits what we are experiencing right now. Worth a refresh viewing.
