WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Donald Trump said on Monday that his administration was close to completing a plan to re-open the U.S. economy, which has been largely shut down to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus.

In his daily news briefing, Trump noted that the number of deaths from the virus in the United States had begun to plateau, indicating that "social distancing" efforts had succeeded.

State governors, meanwhile, appeared to be discussing plans to resume economic activity without seeking input from the Trump administration.

Nine states on the U.S. East and West coasts said on Monday they had begun planning for the slow reopening of their economies and lifting of strict stay-at-home orders.

The virus has killed more than 22,000 people in the United States and shut down all but essential travel and businesses.

Pressed on the question of whether governors or the federal government would make the decision to re-open schools and closed businesses, the president said that he had ultimate authority.

"The president of the United States calls the shots," Trump said. "That being said, we're going to work with the states."

Most in the media and all of the Dems got the Covid19 story wrong from the start. They insisted the virus posed no real threat to Americans. They joined Democrats and the World Health Organization in attacking President Trump’s early China travel restrictions as unnecessary, even “xenophobic.”

1. Which media outlets and Democrats said Covid-19 posed no threat to Americans?

2. Which Democrats and when did WHO call travel restrictions xenophobic?

Well in the previous article Austria was talking about and some other countries with far lower infection rates/deaths,i feel it's a bit early for the Us to do so,but as many here who know more than i ,have said it's really up to the individual states to decide.

Trump is hilarious.

He has ultimate power he says.

Unless its to provide ventilators and ppe to front line staff, you know, the important things used to save lives, then its not his problem, its the states.

He needs to get the economy running very swiftly for his next project.

President Trump wants the United States to start mining on the Moon for minerals.

The US president recently signed an executive order stating America has the right to explore and use resources from outer space.

The order also said the US did not see space as a common area for resources, and didn't need permission of international agreements to get started.

But why does he want to mine in space? And what are the benefits?

There are montages posted all over youtube that answer your questions directly and clearly. You can choose to ignore them if you want, or call them trick photography. Just don't claim you can't find them.

I asked a poster to back up claims in their now removed post, they have failed to do so.

Even though Thailand have everything under control with the low infection and death rates they are not yet considering "opening" up. In fact restrictions may increase and be extended.

Perhaps Trump et al should be looking eastward and asking just how are they doing it?

Thailand cant stay locked down much longer either. Personally I would like to see some international coordination on things such as flight resumption, and if health certificates will be used, how obtained etc....there is tragedy on the horizon soon if not opened back up for business... at least in some limited coordinated way...soon...and Thailands Govt knows this just like the rest of the world does.

So what nonsense is this? People around the world are suffering. There are people paycheck to paycheck out of work...who will soon be desperate... all countries affected around the globe. Lets hope ways to restart will happen soon. Enough of this childishness.
